Using foo_pod to encode CD quality AAC files

I have tried using the 'best quality' option in foo_pod to transcode my full cd quality .APE files into AAC files on my iPod (using faac.exe,) but it appears that the files are taking up very little space and are of different bitrates according to ephPod (I think) ranging from about 70 to 200. I want full CD quality files, is there a way I can do this with foobar/foo_pod?
