If there are any CDex/VorbisDLL fans out there who would like to be using either the latest "Daily Binary", or Garf's GT2 version within CDex, just mail me at: [a href='mailto:john.edwards33@ntlworld.com'][/a] and I will send either or both as you wish
john33
I think it's time you got some free webspace somewhere - I guess that'd be a lot easier for you!
Yeah I would like em when I start ripping cd's again. As I am sure that a lot of other people would. Even a Yahoo, Geoshitties, or a Yahoo/Geoshitties site would seem to be in order.
I could upload them to my page, where I already keep lots of AAC binaries. (I live in Brazil, Dolby can't reach me... )
www.inf.ufpr.br/~rja00/ (http://www.inf.ufpr.br/~rja00/)
Would you mind, john33?
In the case you don't mind, I'll need the latest daily binary, since I only got the GT2 version.
You can send it to rjamorim at mail dot com
Regards.
Hi all,
Roberto, I don't mind at all! I am very happy for you host them:D .
By the time you see this , you will probably have received them in the mail.
I have also sent you the hacked Lame DLL which works with CDex and PP's Cool_lame filter for Cool Edit Pro/2000 and allows people to use Dibrom's 'alt' presets. It's made from Dibrom's Lame Rev.7.
I will try to keep these as up-to-date as I can. Shall I mail you the updated versions as and when they occur?
Thanks for your interest guys!!
john33
Hi all,
I have just discovered that the 'daily binary' is 'new' as of this morning. The one I just sent Roberto was dated Dec 5, I will send the latest, dated Dec 9, to Roberto later in the day. I will also send a daily binary version of 'oggdrop.exe' in case anyone wants it.
john33
PS. In case anyone doesn't know, the reason the daily binary currently only includes 128kbps setting is because the other modes do not compile and are not activated within the 'nightly CVS'.
Woohoo!!
Ok guys, you can now go to
www.inf.ufpr.br/~rja00 (http://www.inf.ufpr.br/~rja00)
And get your Vorbis/Lame DLL.
And, john33, you can send me updated versions as
soon as you finish compiling them! I can't assure I'll
upload them immediately, but i'll do it as soon as
I have some time. (quite frequently lately, my college
teachers are on strike...)
I'm waiting for those daily compiles...
Regards
Roberto
Roberto
All have now been sent.
For anyone interested, I have uploaded the following to Roberto:
These are all from the latest nightly CVS (Dec 8/9), so you only get 128kbps, BUT it is a very good 128kbps!!
john33
And they are all online now!
Thanks for the files, John33! Keep sending updates.
To the people who wrote me asking to help
keeping the site up-to-date: I really appreciate
your interest, but it's just too complicated. Here's the
marathon I go through:
1 - Get the zip files from e-mail.
2 - Uuencode them, since my university server
doesn't support FTP upload
3 - Send them by e-mail to my university mail address,
which I don't use.
4 - Uudecode Mailbox
5 - Copy the zips to my web directory.
6 - Chmod 644 the zips
7 - Edit index.html with F***ing vi, since I can only
access my account through SSH
8 - Test the links to see if I didn't do a type mismatch.
Anyway, thank you. I kept your mails, and I'll call if I
need some urgent help.
Regards,
Roberto
Hmmmmmmmmm. I have it a bit better. But I might not have as much bandwidth or quite as stable a connection. I could also host if it would help or anyone is interested. I have a dedicated Linux server at my feet. All I have to do is SMB the files to my share on that machine and well...... that is it. And FTP works, though it is a bit sluggish. Everything else works fine though.
Neo Neko
Thanks for the offer. I guess I'm really out of that loop, that's between you and rjamorim. Just let me know what you decide, I'm quite happy to send them anywhere!!

That's Ok to me if you want to do it. Thanks for the
offer.
But I really don't mind doing the work. And we have a
quite fast & stable link at my university, so I think it
won't be a problem either.
I'll talk with the system administrator, asking FTP
upload support.
But, if you really want to help: Sure, why not?

Hi, not that i am a user of CDex, but there should be an option to select the tuned 160 kbps mode which is normally activated by using -b 999, but cdex doesn't offer that option...
Albert Faber should be contacted regarding this issue.
(I don't contact, because I don't know details, I don't use
Vorbis, MP3 and MPC only.)
His e-mail:

I think you will find -b 999 was GT1 not GT2. GT2 offered 'tuned 160vbr' and 'tuned 350' plus 128, but I am not sure if much was done with 128.
Certainly the 160vbr mode is active in the DLL that I have provided, above.
john33
hmmm i don't know what i used for 120 CDs i reripped and encoded, no not at all
The GT2 -b 999 is much better then the GT1!!
Benjamin
I apologise. You are quite correct. I have corrected the situation as follows:
have been amended to be the same as GT2. All other settings are the same as RC2.
I have uploaded a new version of the GT2 DLL to rjamorim so you will hopefully find it there in the near future.
Sorry about that!!
john33
It's already there!
And you'll probably find a very nice - and fast! - new AAC
encoder, courtesy of our friend, Mr. Dimkovic.
Go for it!

(I'm getting better... 11 minutes to update my page )
I just did! Thanks
john33
hey, don't mind it. It wasn't your problem. IIRC Garf told this too
But now, I'm very happy that users, who know little about CLEs, can use Vorbis GT2 on CDex!
something offtopic: i've just compiled Vorbis encoder plug-in for Winamp (http://www.blorp.com/~peter/zips/out_vorbis.exe) using GT2.
Great!
What setting is needed to use the tuned 160VBR mode. Is it 999?
john33
I know it is a bit off topic but I have a question about the Winamp encoder plugins. Using my laptop, Winamp, the spiffy line-input plugin, and PP's Vorbis encoder program I have been able to record course lectures. It takes up just under half the CPU resources on my AMD K6-3 550. But the quality is good. I have tested some of the MP3 out plugins, but it took near 100% CPU and the quality was a bit lacking. Has anyone had any experience with an MP3 out plugin that works better or is a bit more optimised. Granted I do not think I will really want to go back to MP3 and WMA ain't going to touch my PC. I will have to give the tuned out plugin a test. And of course figure out how to get the line-input plugin to do 22khz sampling.
Hummm... I heard somewhere that the gogowrapper
plugin works for these kinds of recording.
http://www.muratasystem.or.jp/~boita/index-e.html (http://www.muratasystem.or.jp/~boita/index-e.html)
I don't know for sure, since I don't usually record
through line-in.
To use the plugin, you'll need gogo.dll ver. 2.39c
If you don't have it, I can send you by e-mail.
---------
As for the line-in plugin, there's a REALLY good one
here:
http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/dev/lineinWA2/index.html (http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/dev/lineinWA2/index.html)
It's a little bit difficult to work with it (setting presets,
etc.), but it is very powerful.
According to the OggTraffic of Dec12, RC3 should be release in about a week, or two.
The latest CVS sweep, plus what Monty says in the OggTraffic, suggests that the 128kbps mode in the latest CVS is probably RC3. There are certainly major changes in the libraries.
If you want to 'test drive' the 128 mode, and it sounds pretty damn good' to my non-golden ears, you can get oggdrop, oggenc and vorbis.dll from:
http://www.inf.ufpr.br/~rja00/ (http://www.inf.ufpr.br/~rja00/)
They should be available later today. I uploaded them to rjamorim about 5 mins ago.
john33
Done!
