resampling: SSRC vs. PPHS

I have a couple of Creative SB cards, including a Live 5.1 and an Audigy(1), so I use a resampler in foobar2k (48khz) to avoid the hardware upsampling problems these cards have. I have been using the SSRC resampler for a while, but after updating foobar2k to the latest 0.8.3 build, I noticed a new resampling DSP. The resampler is called PPHS.

My question is, is there any real-world audible difference between the two? What about CPU usage? I don't use "slow" mode in SSRC currently, and the PPHS seems to have a similar mode called "ultra".

I checked the changelog, but didn't even see any mention of the PPSH resampler, so I assume it is a 3rd party DSP included in the special installer.

IIRC this thread answers quite a few questions:
PPHS Resampler plugin, What is it?

Edit: strange how time flies when I write an answer, no wonder people beat me to it...
