LAME - not working?

I've just downloaded and installed LAME 2.0.7 for iTunes, I'm using iTunes7.  When I select a file and ask the app to encode, it sits on "Gathering Information" and never seems to get to the actual encoding process.  I searched for the encoded file, just in case I'm missing something, but as I expected it doesn't exist.

Can someone help?  Thanks!

Neil

iTunes-LAME 2.0.7 works fine for me, using LAME 3.97 and iTunes 7.0.1.

A few questions:
* Which iTunes-LAME version are you using (the one with LAME 3.95.1 or 3.90.3)?
* Or have you replaced LAME with a later version?
* Which encoder option are you using (the standard "--alt-preset standard", or something else)??
* PowerPC or Intel Mac?
