MP3 - General / Re: Resurrecting/Preserving the Helix MP3 encoder
Last post by includemeout -
oh, I forgot to reply to your second question.

No. nspsytune means "Naoki shibata psychoacoustics tuning", and it's one of the tunings of LAME. Although currently I don't remember if they are used in the most recent versions of LAME or not.

Helix is a descendant of the Xing MP3 encoder. As you said, RealNetworks bought Xing, so it also got the encoder.
The changes that have been done to this encoder here in this topic are mostly about preserving and improving the user experience, not about sound quality (other than, maybe fixing bugs due to uninitialized variables or similar).
Also, thanks for that, @JAZ

3rd Party Plugins - (fb2k) / Re: Resampler plugin
Last post by KronosN4 -
Since lvqcl still hasn't released a 64-bit version I wanted to see if I can improve the quick conversion I did earlier.
Here's a new build that supports both 32-bit and 64-bit foobar2000 versions, dark mode is supported and now fast mode works also on 64-bit variant.

I also added options to resample only chosen samplerates or to resample everything else but the chosen samplerates, so it should allow doing everything mod and mod2 versions did in one file. I didn't see sources for lvqcl's mod variants so this is my custom implementation.

Thanks for your work, it helps me a lot. I have not found any other resampler in foobar2000 that gives me the option to choose the phase response like SOX does.

3rd Party Plugins - (fb2k) / 64-bit fb2k 2.1.5 Skip Track Question
Last post by Dryst -
I have the latest version of fb2k installed with the latest of all components.  I configured the largest pre-load buffer, and I also configured a 250MiB file load cache for all three options under advanced settings.  My intent is at 30 seconds toward the end of the currently playing track to load the next track into memory and play from memory.  This works effectively, and playback has been smooth for 95% of the time.  There have been instances where I stopped fb2k, restarted it, and again played my shuffled playlist of unique songs.  When this happens there is a chance I will hear repeats.  To prevent this, I use the latest skip track component (version 1.4.0).

In the past this component would check next tracks against my criteria then skip tracks that failed the criteria.  This of course would sometimes cause a delay prior to hearing music.  I understand the reasons for the delay.  In the past though I could actually got a hint that tracks were being skipped in some manner.  It may have been album art changes.  Now I just see a frozen fb2k with no hint that track skipping is happening.

My question:  is there a way to indicate tracks are being skipped?

marc2k3,

I'd almost forgotten.... but I think for me the show-stopper for the JScript Panel was it not working in Wine. Let me know if I'm wrong but I remember JScript Panel requiring a component of Windows that Wine lacks.

Spider Monkey works in Wine but I was struggling to find a starting point as the sample scripts all seemed to be dependent on other scripts which were dependent on other scripts......

If I'm wrong about JScript Panel not working in Wine I'll give it another look at some stage.

PS In case you're wondering why it looks like foobar2000 was running on Windows in my screenshot, it's because it was. Windows was running in VirtualBox and I happened to be using it while I was posting, but I rarely need to these days.

Cheers.
