General - (fb2k) / QAAC Error 2 in latest Foobar 2.00 x64 - Please help
Last post by iphoneman -
I had to do a reinstall of system, and reinstall Foobar.

I downloaded 2.79 zip file, unzipped it to a folder, and now it looks like this:

C:\qaac279\x64

In this folder, unzipped, are:
libsoxconvolver64.dll
libsoxr64.dll
qaac64.exe
refalac64.exe

Converting WAV files, AAC 127, source folder

It asks me where qacc is, and I point to the qacc64 in the x64 folder, and I get this error for each file:

Source: "J:\Tidal Music - Officlal M\temp-delete\230606_0350.wav"
An error occurred while writing to file (The encoder has terminated prematurely with code 2 (0x00000002); please re-check parameters) : "J:\Tidal Music - Officlal M\temp-delete\230606_0350.m4a"
  Additional information:
  Encoder stream format: 96000Hz / 2ch / 24bps
  Command line: qaac64.exe --ignorelength -s --no-optimize -V 127 -o "230606_0350.m4a" -
  Working folder: J:\Tidal Music - Officlal M\temp-delete\
Conversion failed: The encoder has terminated prematurely with code 2 (0x00000002); please re-check parameters

Thanks.

MOD edit: added QAAC to title

As far as hard drive noise, I have a NVME SSD in my current PC build with no HDDs so that's a non-issue. At least I think it is. You may know more than me.
Every computer is different and you're not complaining about noise from yours. ;)

Only indirectly by using the possibility to materialize the virtual media library table. You could add one ore more triggers to the materialized table which are doing the calculation. Not only when adding new files to the library, also when updating the rating tag. But these triggers need to be carefully designed to avoid endless recursions or too long running updates.
Too complex for me at this moment; I barely understand the basics right now. I appreciate the component capabilities but functionality/docs are abstract as hell (for me).
Actually, currently it wouldn't work anyway. After checking the code I saw, that the virtual tables are not visible for the db connection, which is running the materialization. Will be changed for the next version.

I tried the format function as first solution and it didn't work at all for me. Maybe I didn't use it properly though.
In docs I always find that SQL format works like this:
FORMAT (value, format [, culture])
That were the wrong docs. You should always check only the SQLite docs as especially function implementations are not really standardized.

Buy you are reversing the args there (?) Just checking now, the reversed version works xd so that was the problem.
It's documented like that here.

Next version will have configurable tags (+weight) for cultural related tags. One for artist's country and another one for genre/style's cultural region.

This will allow to finetune playlists a bit more than using the filters added above, giving scores according to cultural distances. For ex. to prioritize similar artists from same continent (without totally discarding artists from others). Data will be retrieved from tags or the World-Map-SMP script (which also extracts data from Bio panel).

The genre/style version is a bit more complex since a genre's origin may be found on multiple regions at the same time (and also is independent of the artist's origin). It uses the cultural map added on previous versions, so every genre on the graph is there too.

What software did you used, and is it a plugin for Foobar? I use Spek, but it's colors are less noticeable than yours, as you can see by my Multistage FLAC spectrum, specially the ultrasonic noise:

(How do I post images inline like you did? :P )

Whenever possible I often try to reduce the color depth to 8-bit when attaching PNGs. The problem is the very colorful SoX spectrograms are already 8-bit by default, but the graphical complexity still resulted in a rather big file size so I just posted them as thumbnails.

Double thanks  ;)

Note that USB power tends to be noisy and occasionally noise can get into the analog-side of a USB powered DAC through the power.   (Usually it's a "whine".)   A DAC with it's own separate power supply will avoid that possibility.

Looks like I have more thinks to consider. Thank you so much. For the time being, I'm getting another 3.5mm to RCA cable. On my current one, the 3.5mm end got bent.
