24bit APE Monkey's Audio - playback error: Decoding failure

Hi everybody,

As in subject:
- playing 24bit Monkey's Audio file (.ape)

using:
- fb2k v1.6.7
- Monkey's Audio Decoder v2.3.1

gets error message and stops playback after few seconds of playback (immediately when using seek bar):
- Playback error: Decoding failure at 0:08.558 (Unsupported format or corrupted file): "d:\test\24bit_test.ape"

File "24bit_test.ape" is compressed and verified (decompressed) without errors (using Monkey's Audio v6.61 and v6.40).
Plays without problems on VLC.
Error exists with different compression levels (fast, high) and different frequencies (44.1KHz, 48KHz).
16bit ape files are played correctly.

Other audio formats with different parameters (16,24,32bits, 44,1,48.etc.) are played without errors.
The same situation happens on second PC.

It intentionally points to an older version, because the newer version that supports all files severely reduces benchmark scores.
