Title: kabuki's lastFOOdly config
Post by: kabuki on 2010-07-01 15:35:39
Hello
time has come for me to share my first config from scratch.

here some screen-shots

(http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/585/21930905.th.jpg) (http://img27.imageshack.us/i/21930905.jpg/)

(http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/1149/58903865.th.jpg) (http://img88.imageshack.us/i/58903865.jpg/)

(http://img709.imageshack.us/img709/4960/78852781.th.jpg) (http://img709.imageshack.us/i/78852781.jpg/)

(http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/4296/48342515.th.jpg) (http://img134.imageshack.us/i/48342515.jpg/)

(http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/143/51043152.th.jpg) (http://img682.imageshack.us/i/51043152.jpg/)

Please read carefully the text file included in the zip before install the config.

Quick step for installation, to try the config, before using it:

download last version of foobar here (http://www.foobar2000.org/download)
install it in a portable mode (all options enable) directly in "C:\" not in the program file folder.
when installation ends, do not run foobar, just quit the installation window.
in that way some path will be good for a quick view of the config.

DOWNLOAD LINK (https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B-YHDwXuHRwGZDI0OWM0MWYtMDMxZi00ODA3LTlkOGEtMmRkM2U3ZWNiNjUz&hl=fr)

then, extract the zip in "C:\foobar2000"
and before extracting the second zip (with command "extract here" to replace foobar's folders), read the note.

That's all.

it looks very nice, hope it's functional as it looks, but let me notice that colors for channel spectrum and custom toolbar at the bottom of your first screenshot doesn't fit overall layout IMO, don't you think?

yes you are right, i have to admit it. as everybody around me say the same thing. but i can't find (for my candy eye) what could be better. this color was selected because, for me, it reproduce first lcd's color. nothing more.

of course falstaff, i took more than a portion from the best config i've seen, and as i said, i learn(ed) so much from you.
but, maybe, you miss that part:
Code: [Select]
// based on code for WSH.CONTROL -XCHANGE- Config by Falstaff, and modificated (as i could!) by Kabuki for lastFoodly. Thx Falstaff.
or more surely, i forgot to put it everywhere i should.
anyway, thanks again for your config that put me on the way of mine.

Simply the most attractive Foobar theme I've ever seen, and I think I've seen them all.  I was hoping you would share it since the first time you posted screenshots. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Kudos to Falstaff, of course, for pushing the envelope year after year with his imagination and coding skills (and he's no slouch at graphics, either), thus allowing other themers to amaze us with themes like this one.

Now I'm probably going to spend my whole summer to adapt this theme to my needs (I shudder at the thought of modding such a complex theme with my pathetic skills). I think my wife planned some holidays but you have to know your priorities. "Chérie, j'ai raté l'avion !".

I've been wanting to try it out since I saw your first screenshots of it, but can't seem to download it.

For first time, i would prefer to keep focus my attention on one forum. It's only a point of view. In that way, i could give better help, if needed.

I would like to be able to edit my first post, for futur updates or changes, but by now, i can't (maybe a mod or admin could give me the right -i don't really know how this works).

Great config!

one question... how the autoplaylist SINGLE works... read a "single" folder or a tag? i don't know how its work!

see

thanks!

ps: sorry for my english!

You could make your own autoplaylist that read a TAG or like me, a Folder.
Then rename it like the old one => it will use same display for singles.

It is a thing of beauty but get a lot of music through it and it grinds to a halt. But it is a great config and I hope people make sure of it's code and layout so we can get some decent evolutions from it. Just what the community needed I think.

@nicolah
I was a bit speed to answer you, and made a confusion: Keepaspect ratio has not much to do with your question.
Here a better answer:

And last thing, for all users:
I made a mistake in the GB code, about the shadow ("a la" lasFM) under frame:

here the code we have:
Code: [Select]
//-----------> DRAW

$draw_image($get(frame.L),$get(frame.T),$get(frame.W),$add($get(frame.H),3),$get(art.overlay.path),255,[b]$get(dimaspect)[/b])

and here the correct one:
Code: [Select]
//-----------> DRAW

$draw_image($get(frame.L),$get(frame.T),$get(frame.W),$add($get(frame.H),3),$get(art.overlay.path),255,[b]nokeepaspect[/b])

Could you be more explicit? Something doesn't work or do you refer to the fact that this config is a bit slow at start (and playlists auto changing)?

I realy enjoy this config. It's clean yet very functional. However I have some small suggestions for improvements. The thumbnails above the album cover look too small to make anything out. You could replace the first thumbnail with a codec icon and the second thumbnail with a flag icon. In my previous config I tagged my artists with a "country" or "origin" tag which I represented with a (spherical) flag image.

(http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/9083/kabukialt.th.jpg) (http://img408.imageshack.us/i/kabukialt.jpg/)

Also, an info panel at the right side wouldn't be bad either.

However I have some small suggestions for improvements.
Actually, i've made this config without even thinking to share it. I've made it for my unique usage and of course, there are many things to improve. Mostly about user's whishes.
So I take note of those things, if in 2013 or 2014 I fall down to an unemployment time, like in first half of 2010

The thumbnails above the album cover look too small to make anything out.
Actually those very very small cover thumbnails have sense for me (in my usage) : they indicates me which kind of cover i have, and if i need to find them or not, with AlbumArt Downloader.

You could replace the first thumbnail with a codec icon and the second thumbnail with a flag icon. In my previous config I tagged my artists with a "country" or "origin" tag which I represented with a (spherical) flag image.
Good idea. but... I will not change anything in a near futur. I think the code for displaying those thumbnails have to be rewrote, because it was not thought to support later management or messing.
I would better offer some more code lines to give the possibility to choose which kind of image users would like to show.
Why don't you share here the part of the code you've changed, if people prefer your way?

Also, an info panel at the right side wouldn't be bad either.
What kind of "info panel" ? an item properties panel like on the screenshot below? in the left panel?

(http://a.imageshack.us/img409/4210/tags.th.jpg) (http://img409.imageshack.us/i/tags.jpg/)
If yes, this is an improvement i've made for my self, for tags-TAB, with buttons at the bottom for discogs/rename file/footprint scan/replay gain album scan/BPM scan etc...
If not, have you notice if adding panel on side panel could be easy if "you enter the understanding of code" ? (said in a simply way, not in a pretentious one).

Anyway, thank you jazzthieve for offering your rounded personnal and self-made genre's image. They will go with next release.

Question. Is there a way I can use this config with my normal foobar default directory aka in the program files folder, or is the only through the portable method? I tried unzipping it to my default directory like other configs but I couldn't get this to work. Couldn't even find the fcl file. I was able to get it to run using your portable method though. Just wondering. Thanks.
Title: kabuki's lastFOOdly config
Post by: kabuki on 2010-07-25 12:28:32
It was a bit on purpose. This release was for "testing" the config, on a fresh new portable installation. In this way, any uncontrolled deletion of user's parameter could be avoid. The portable method and the absence of fcl were, for me and for users, a guaranty to avoid problems.

I've tested, rigth now, if I could give you a quick solution, installing foobar on local, and importing fcl, but there is some problems with the setting WSH panel and Playlists.
So I'll try to keep that in mind for any future release.

Do you miss something very important, using the portable method for a while? At least the time to see if lastFOOdly is adapted for you or not?

Ok if anyone is interested. I changed some bits to my own liking. First the album rating is different, I use gold discs instead of stars to indicate a rating from 0 to 10. When the albumgroup is collapsed a spherical flag is displayed instead of a heart for album rating. When the albumgroup is open a country flag (rectangular) and a codec image is dislpayed.

look at the screenshot (http://a.imageshack.us/img717/2576/16x9.th.jpg) (http://img717.imageshack.us/i/16x9.jpg/)

then replace this
Code: [Select]

$puts(gp.art.T,6)
$puts(gp.art.size,$sub($mul(%el_group_row%,%el_row_height%),12))

$albumart($get(gp.art.L),$get(gp.art.T),$get(gp.art.size),$get(gp.art.size),1,artist $get(aspect.op),,,)

by this
Code: [Select]
//------------------------->DRAW ARTIST THUMBNAILS
$puts(gp.art.T,6)
$puts(gp.art.H,$sub($mul(%el_group_row%,%el_row_height%),12))
$puts(gp.art.W,$mul($get(gp.art.H),1))
$puts(gp.art.L,$sub(%el_width%,%BG.E.RIGHT%,$get(gp.art.W),3))

$albumart($get(gp.art.L),$get(gp.art.T),$get(gp.art.W),$get(gp.art.H),0,artist $get(aspect.op),,,)

How do I prevent it from writing lyrics tags? I have tried everything to stop if from doing so but have had no luck. Even though foo_uie_lyrics2 is set to not save, it still tags the file.

@Cablespider
My bad. When I build the config skin, i was too lazy to script a track info panel that will show my comment tag or my discogs's track credits.
So I've use another instance of lyrics panel that refer to those tags. And i've forgot to prevent it from saving tag.
See the screenshot and tell me if that helps you, otherwise, i have no idea where the trouble can come from.

Thanks for the reply and sharing your work.

Edit: I should have checked before asking for help. I'm new at this. There was 3 instances of Lyrics 2 in the CUI layout. I deleted them except for the one controlling the panel on the side. Everything is okay now.

Where is my mind? Yep, you are right, 3 instances, not 2 as i said in the post before.
The third is (was, in your case)in the "Album Flow" Tab, and come to replace track list when Lyrics are present, automaticaly (if "Auto" is turned ON).

And crashing?... try, and you'll see.

It's very stable for me, no crashes at all. If you have a big library it can get a bit slow, especially on startup. Since my machine works 24/7 there's no need to shutdown f2k at all, so I can use it comfortably with my 50k library.

It's stable for me as well. I don't have a huge collection, so it's not slow at all. Even when in the default, full featured mode. The layout has many options though. That's why it's become one of my favorites. It can suit the needs of many. I have mine set up to be less intense but still informative and functional.

I've already implemented a "Charts Tab", that will be on next release.
This tab display, on left, LastFM charts statistics, and on rigth, LovedTracks Playlist (all rated tracks, sorted by rate).

Very nice and thanks for the icons. The red did kind of throw things off even though it was slight.

Can you more specific? maybe i can help (not next week, i'll be without connection).
If you mean that you would like to make "active" the existing history panel (on right side/right panel) it is very easy:
add this action to you "panel stack splitter" button:
Code: [Select]
$ifequal(%_SP.EXPANDED%,0,SETGLOBAL:_SP.TYPE:2;SETGLOBAL:_SP.EXPANDED:1,$if($not($strcmp(%_SP.TYPE%,2)),SETGLOBAL:_SP.TYPE:2,SETGLOBAL:_SP.EXPANDED:0))

but, i'm sure you are not talking about something that easy

I'd like to display that data in the history panel in place of the info that's currently there.

nope, that isn't me. all that last.fm data is provided by ssenna's foo_uie_biography component. my script only uses customdb for the playcount.

you should be able to access that using these title formatting fields (as per the manual)

%lastfm_bio%
%lastfm_similar_artist%
%lastfm_artist_playcount%
%lastfm_artist_listeners%
%lastfm_album_playcount%,
%lastfm_album_listeners%,
%lastfm_album_content%

My bad. I didn't notice the info until after I started using your scripts. I just assumed that's how the info was being populated.

I've been a long time user of Foobar but a noobie when it comes to fiddling around with it. Thanks for the info. Back to work.

I added a lastfm love button and lastfm playount using Marc2003's scripts. The 'hotness' feature works with lastfm playcount.

I've already implemented a "Charts Tab", that will be on next release.
This tab display, on left, LastFM charts statistics, and on rigth, LovedTracks Playlist (all rated tracks, sorted by rate).

Propably not the best place to ask, but as I installed the fonts that came with this skin many webpages started to look strange and disturbing (with new fonts). Any way to revert this? (I don't use the skin, just tested it)

Like I said in a PM, brilliant theme. I can't see it getting any better than this when it comes to Foobar themes.

I would appreciate some help because I couldn't figure out how to
- Change month names to English (in "History")
- Set the path for the default "noartist.png" in all music->years/artists (or genres/artists)

Also (no edit button, sorry)
- Change the options in right click ELPlaylist -> Sort.

thank you

Hello,

First i would like to thank you for this great theme.

But i've got some problems with artist's images, they don't work.
I apologize for this noob question, but what is the code to use images which are located on artist's folder (images associated with albums)?

I try to use this line "$puts(art.path,$replace(%path%,%filename_ext%,)\%artist%.*)" as it is suggested by readme, but it doesn't work. (album's images work very well)

Thank you

(Sorry for my bad english)

This is what I have for artist images:

Code: [Select]
$puts(art.path,I:\Music\Artist Images\%artist%.*)

It's not going to work without defining your path.

Indeed, you have to right click on the image panel and choose settings. From there, define your path. Do it for albums panel too.

Have you find the solution?

I would appreciate some help because I couldn't figure out how to
- Change month names to English (in "History")
Done for next release. It was an error in code/global value. Corrected now. Wait 'till september.

- Set the path for the default "noartist.png" in all music->years/artists (or genres/artists)
I will see that.

- Change the options in right click ELPlaylist -> Sort.
Could you be more specific?

This is different now, with next release. Using foo_covers, you only have to configure it once, in preferences.

Yep already found the error and corrected it.

When clicking an ELPlaylist panel (such as the right side of the main panel or the History panel) there's a Sort option, to sort by date, number of plays etc. The options are in French. But also I wanted to add another sort method and could not find how by myself/Google. (always nicer to know how to change it yourself.)

next release

Good to know  Though I haven't been studying too hard in the last few days, kept tweaking the theme and my music collection lol.

edit: in next release, history sorting will change. It will be possible to sort by year, by month or by day.

Hello.

Please refer to the first post (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=81958&view=findpost&p=712233) if you are interested by using last version of LastFoodly config.

I've been inactive since july 2010, but following the forum, actively in july/august. Not much from September, due to another activity.
So in august, i've changed some little things, following other user/developper's works.

This new version is dated from that time... so sorry if some of those works/codes have changed since.
You can test it if you want.

@Kkamion: sorry to have been so long to consider your request. As you can see, your last reminder mail have convinced me to take this necessary time

Here is a very quick changes Log, if needed:
-Muzack's Charts (v1.0 b5) section added, and twicked.
-Infos panel was "littlely" modified, with Marc2003's work integrated (not updated in my skin since august)
-Properties panel added to the Tags section
-The config includes now "track's fingerprint system" (foo_biometric) for determining a unique track's signature
-Other things that I can't remember well
-Cover's path are simpler to manage, using foo_cover2 component.

Maybe some "other user's part of code" are out of date, at least, components are (normally all, at least those watched by AutoUpdate system) updated in the package.

As for the first version, please consider those step first:
1-Download the zip
2-Download last version of foobar2000
3-FULL options available, Install foobar2000 in portable mode in C:\
DON'T RUN after install (uncheck the option, before quiting installation window)
4-drop the zip in C:\foobar2000\
5-then "extract here" once, then "extract here" the zip included so all folders will be in there good place
6-read the readmefirst included, if not done before or to refresh your mind about the step by step configuration
7-enjoy it if you still like it.

Kind Regards.

Why would someone want images of artists in YOUR library?

If this is an entire installation of foobar, you may want to review the following.

@kaloian79:
I've updated my config with last foobar version and have no issue, maybe it is just your modded version that have a problem. Please try to fix it before posting any sharing mod.

@LastFOOdly users:
kaloian79 has reported me an issue with radio streaming. The player stops after 1, 2, or 3 seconds.
As i don't use foobar for streaming for long time, i did not notice this issue personally, but after a test, I encounter myself the problem too.
Is there any of you that don't have this issue?
In fact, as i've told to kaloian79, I actually can't find the time to investigate deeper for that problem. Sorry.
