AccurateRip support (Audio CD ripper)

Just a quick question:
What is the current status of AccurateRip support in F2K? I remember that it was removed in version 1.5.5 with the plan to add it back later, but can't find any info about the follow up.

From the 1.5.5 release notes:
Quote
Component autoupdate dialog visual fixes.
Fixed an obscure bug in FPL playlist loader.
MP4 AAC/USAC compatibility fixes (additional component still required).
Fixed incorrect behavior of shared printf() function on large hex values.
Made creation time explicitly retained when a file needs to be rewritten during a tag update.
Fixed lockup on dropped HTTPS internet radio connection.
Equalizer settings are no longer forgotten after disabling equalizer via the checkbox.
Fixed missing seekbar with remote MP3 files containing embedded cuesheets.
Audio CD ripper: removed outdated AccurateRip support based on outdated specification.
Proper AccurateRip support will be restored in a future update.

I guess the status is "not implemented". We rarely if ever get status updates of what's being worked on.

If more serious bugs are reported, the developer will usually respond with a "thanks for reporting, fix will be in the next release" but that's about it. All you can do is keep your eye on future changelogs.

Perhaps the developer is too busy making things better and just doesn't have time to just go on about it?
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?  ;~)

Finally found this post...Any update on this?
Why was it removed in the first place?
An interim solution would be to get File_Verifyer to run automatically after a rip to get accuraterip results?
An export button for the ripping log would be great too (similar to File verification)

thx

The reason why is included in the release notes quoted in the first post...

Audio CD ripper: removed outdated AccurateRip support based on outdated specification.

It only had ARv1 support which meant fewer and fewer newer CDs were getting recognised as there were no submissions in the database. I guess adding support for v2 is more effort and it's not seen as high priority especially when cuetools does a fine job. You don't have to rely on one piece of software to do everything.

when dBpoweramp does a fine job. Spoon the dBpoweramp developer (& the creator of AccurateRip) is part of the team developing foobar2000 mobile.

(Not at all denying that CUERipper also does a fine job - indeed I think it does - but that doesn't mean it was the reason.)

I didn't even mention the ripper. I rip with fb2k and use cue tools to verify the flacs when I'm done.

I'm not convinced the lack of AR support in fb2k is causing people to run off and buy dbpoweramp licenses,,,

edit: .....or maybe they are. I should try and remember not everyone is a nerd who spends far too much time on these forums.

?

What were you talking about then, when you quoted "Audio CD ripper:", in a topic about the "Audio CD ripper"?

Surely not about the verification feature, which is there and with ARv2 support?

If I wasn't clear in my first post, I certainly was with my 2nd. I use fb2k to rip and cue tools to verify.

And of course cue tools can verify standalone files without cuesheets/pregap info because of the way CTDB works.
