ID3v2 language tag/frame

WMP uses TLAN.  I can't find documentation for it.  Is there a frame for language of the content?

thanks!

TLAN
The 'Language' frame should contain the languages of the text or
lyrics spoken or sung in the audio. The language is represented with
three characters according to ISO-639-2 [ISO-639-2]. If more than one
language is used in the text their language codes should follow
according to the amount of their usage, e.g. "eng" $00 "sve" $00.

However, the TLAN frame is not supported in foobar2000.

If you really need to edit the TLAN frame, you can use Mp3tag for example. It's mapped to the LANGUAGE field.

Maybe that's undocumented?  Can any developer confirm?  This can be important for people speaking more than one languages.

Thanks!

Confirmed. You can easily check that for yourself: anything that is not displayed in the foobar2000 properties dialog is not recognized.

Not sure.  The properties dialog is control by the string in the advanced section of preference.

The "Standard fields" setting only determines which fields are displayed by default.

Other recognized fields would appear in the Properties dialog as <FIELDNAME>.

But if foobar2000 skips a frame when reading the ID3v2 tag, which is the case for TLAN, its content won't be available to any component, and thus won't be displayed at all.

Is there any way to suggest this feature to be supported in next version?

the latest foobar can't read ID3v2.4 tags properly!

the names show up fine in MP3Tag v2.39 though

I had similar problem before (asian characters messed up under english locale), turns out fb2k was reading off id3v1 instead of id3v2, removing id3v1 helped.

thanks for the tip! i used MP3Tag to remove the ID3v1 tags and dumb foobar can read them now!

the programmers should make fb2k default to the newest standard and fallback whenever not available

Can we make feature suggestions?

1. Add support for language

2. Add property for ID3v2 version

Will there be any response from developers to the suggestion (just to acknowledge that they saw the message)?  Or we just wait?

Thanks!
