I think the CBR 320 lowpass 20.5 is the best setting. Why u cut off at 22.5 KHz that VBR .mp3 ?? 20.5 KHz it is fine.

Beyond 20.5 KHz the sound is too high, bright, crissper and sharpen and higher frecuencies sound metallics. I supose that why Lame Encoder set a -lowpass filter at 20.5 KHz (threshold).

I´v never used the -V n command line... but i will do soon... By now i'm fighting with -q n command line  je je.

Try to set these command line: -m s -V 4 -q 9 -lowpass 20.5, CBR and compare it in SPEK with your uploaded 320 CBR 20.5.png and your VBR 22.5.png.

Where: -ms (stereo), -V4: I don't know why just 4 and no other n: value... -q 9: less prossesed sound with more noise, supposedly better sound quality than -q 0. And CBR.

I think, really i hope... doing that u will get the better sound quality possible within those 20.5 KHz. Then compare with your .FLAC.
