What about when a search takes a few seconds ? (large collection, old machine)
[/quote]

Lets just say that some of us dont have huge collections, results are instant here.
Make it optional?

As NEMO said: the main purpose of quicksearch toolbar is creating a new playlist with the search results. In combination with "quicksearch for same" by context menu and all the settings where and how to find you have a powerful tool. However: Sometimes i don't want to have a new playlist but just like to find some tracks in active playlist to apply a command (add to playback queue,...) or simply doubleclick a track to be played. I miss the feature of foo_playlistfind or foo_uie_search that highlights the tracks that matches the criteria.

My simple request: If settings are "search in playlist" then all matching tracks are highlighted in active playlist and oppurtunity tu use arrow buttons to navigate through selection (using them also points focus to playlistview so that enter key could start playback). Applying "search as you type" on active playlist and not on whole database wouldn' be so slow, i think.

And not to forget: NEMO, thanks for your plugin. It is great!

Nice updates.

Would live updates be possible, optionally of course. As in, get results as you type.

Is there a way to get only whole words?

Now, if I search for time I get also "In the sentimental mood".

How can I leave it out of the results?

I tried with 'time' 'time ' "time" "time "
and with Match all and match any.

I also tried with the playlist gen:

title HAS time
title HAS 'time'
title HAS 'time '
title HAS "time"
title HAS "time "

Nothing worked.

Click on the icon in the search box and then change preference in the 'Search Type' menu. I think that might help.

He already did that! I believe it is not possible as longas you don't have an option "whole words" that has to be combined with all types of searching.

Fabiospark: Did you try that: title HAS ' time ' ?

Hi!

I didn't have the time to read the whole thread so please excuse if this has been suggested before...

I am using version 0.9 beta 4 of foobar
Is it possible for the panel version of this plugin that some key press like escape releases focus from the search box and sets focus on the playlist?
Or... even better (for me at least ) first escape clears the search string and second escape sets focus on playlist.

I have set up a custom hotkey for activate now playing but does not seem to help....

NEMO, version 2.2 also fixes the display issue for me*, thanks. Out of curiosity, what was the problem?

* The text-redrawing is fixed, but the vertical alignment is still off and the text still doesn't shift to the left when you exceed the right-hand boundary of the edit box. I'm not sure if those are intended or what.

Would you please implement Perl Regular Expressions as well (there should be libraries out there)... Then we would have a mighty, standard, search expression... Perlre is universal and anyone know it.

Same here.

Vertical alignement is almost fine for me ..... hmmm maybe one pixel down, is that what you want?
The "text not shifting" is on my top priorities but is difficult to fix .... unless I revert back to a fixed width text box (reported earlier as a bug).

No, don't move the text 1 pixel down. It is center already.

On my computer, yeah, that would be right. If i compare the text in the address bar in Explorer (which is the same pixel-height as the quicksearch bar and also uses an icon in front of the text) to the text in the quickbar, the one in Explorer is one pixel lower.

I obviously don't know if that's the same on every system, though. :/

Well it doesn't bother me too much, i doubt i'll ever enter a search term that big anyway. I personally wouldn't mind a fixed-width box, but i can see how it would cause problems in layouts other than my own.

gj anyway

I too see the text as 1 pixel too high. Perhaps this varies with font though?

Please don't revert to a fixed width search box; I'd much rather this bug as it stands personally.

I made this suggestion:
Quote

So if you have space after the first quote you will find whole words but only if they are not at he beginning or end of the title.

"Times are good" won't be found
"It is time" won't be found
"What time it is?" will be found

I don't know what's the exact problem behind this, but maybe if you would allow the size to be set in the options, that way it would be fixed but dynamic..

That would be a workaround I have already thought of. I would prefer to resize the controls according to what resize is done by hte user on the toolbar area, but I need to chack and understand if / how this capabitily is offred by the SDK.

Thanks for the plugin Nemo and to the others who described the problem I was having with a better descriptions and media.

.9 got a whole lot sweeter too!

In 0.9 I have double items in the context menu:

Artist
Album
Title
Artist
Album
Title

All of them works.

Feature request:  it would be nice (for me, at least) being able to customize the list in the context menu "Quicksearch for same..." and add our own custom fields.

Thanks.

Is it possible that you could fix the border? It should look like in the playlist dropdown plugin.

I love you.  Has anybody told you that?

A request:  Instead of displaying the results on a separate playlist (#Search results [string])... can it focus+highlight the results on the current playlist instead?  And pressing enter will focus+hilight the next result?

Awesome plugin you got here.  Thanks a bunch!
