Title: How to make FLAC to CD-DA when haven't cue sheet
Post by: B-wldrd on 2011-07-22 10:18:28
I have several FLAC recordings without cue sheets. They play in VLC media player faultlessly, but I want to be able to burn them to CD to play on regular CD players. I've got EAC with AutoFLAC & have successfully burnt CD-DA's when I've got an OK cue sheet, but is it possible to generate a cue sheet from scratch that will allow me to create CD-DA's from FLAC files using the functionality built within these programs (EAC & AutoFLAC)? Do I just create a notepad/text file that looks like this (where the whole CD has been made into a single FLAC)?:

FILE "C:\Name of flac file.flac." WAVE
TRACK 01 AUDIO
INDEX 01 00:00:00

I'm not concerned at this point about being able to split tracks.

Thanks.

I never tried it for myself, but http://cuemaster.org/ (http://cuemaster.org/) looks like what you need.

You need to convert them from FLAC to WAV format first. A standard CD player only recognizes WAV format. I use Audacity for that.

Then you can use ImgBurn to create the cue file and also burn the CD. Here is a link to the relevant guide page for ImgBurn: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=5555 (http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=5555)

Hope this helps.

ok, so I was curious and just tried it for myself ... it works excellent and requires only minimal user interaction

to be honest, I have no idea if this workflow will also cover the so called non-compliant cue sheets, but in my case, all tracks and index points were 100% spot on compared with the cue sheet I got when ripping that particular CD with EAC

so there you have it ...

nope, not neccessary ... CDBurnerXP supports burning FLACs directly, either with or without cue sheets

and just to be picky, standard CD players do not recognize WAV format (as on data disks), but only CDDA disks and using the right application, you could also burn MP3s directly to CDDA for example
