Title: MP3 file length showing less then actual length
Post by: h2de5 on 2012-01-26 06:56:47
Hi

I have used EAC to ripped some tracks, then i merged them into 1 with another program. However for some reason the length if the merged mp3 in the properties shows up as less then it actually is.

see my screen shot. The length says 5 minutes but the file is actually over 1 hr

So i tried to rip my cd with CDEX then merged the files using the same program and this DIDN'T happen.

is there something i am missing..? has any body faced this before?

sorry if this seems trivial

thanks in advance

I think you need to rewrite the header for the MP3.

Download Foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org/) and install.

Make a backup of the file, load the mp3 in to Foobar2000, right click the file in foobar2000 > utilities > rebuild stream and then Fix VBR MP3 header.

this is not necessary. you can rip a CD to a single mp3 directly from EAC. i don't have it installed at the moment so i can't remember the exactly terminology but it's something like "copy image (compressed)" on one of the menus.
