Bug report - Fade doesn't work with automatic track change

Hi!

Using DS, manual track changes correctly fade in/out, but using automatic shuffle tracks mode it doesn't work. (I set all 4 options in Fading / Output / Playback / Preferences). Tested on 1.4 and older foobar versions.

Thanks for your time!

I'm having the same problem since v1.4 - no fade on automatic track change; tried playing shuffle and default playback - same issue.

Win10, output options per attached. I'm not using any other DSPs. Updated my realtek HD driver.

Other 3 options DO fade, but nothing with automatic track change. Tried all available output options.

Might not be the same issue but here is another data point ...

I had the same problem once - I could not get the Crossfader DSP working, or the auto-track fade under Output settings. After troubleshooting, I had to remove foo_playlist_attributes plug-in which was adding its own DSP for transitions (which I must have ticked in advanced preferences just for fun). After that it started working again. Then I added the component back without that option and it kept working.

You could check by doing a fresh portable install and see if it fades correctly - if so, might be a plug-in at fault. (Also the devs will probably recommend to copy/paste your component list)

My 1.4 install is portable and was completely new/rebuilt to eliminate some outdated/poor performing scripts.

Also just tried fresh 1.4/1.320/1.317 portable install with default settings and cross fade (auto track change) does not work in any of those versions (although manual change DOES work).

I also tried "DSP crossfader" which also does not work.

Does it work for anyone? Maybe the problem is system-level on my end?

I'm not sure if the fade durations are 100% correct but I definitely get crossfading on automatic track change with the DS output, when configured to do so.

version and system details please? (It was working previously for me as well but I was on an old version.)

Also, per DXDIAG: latest DX12, video/audio no problems here.

I tested with portable foobar2000 v1.4 and used integrated Realtek sound chip. But my sound card uses Microsoft's generic HD audio drivers. I'm on Windows 10 v1809.

I can't reproduce any problems, neither can Peter. And I recall he said the relevant code hasn't been touched since it was added.

I end up with resetting all parameters to default, now it works!

excellent! confirmed reset fixed my crossfade problem also.

Although quite annoying to have to reenter all prefs.

How strange. I wonder what is the difference between the fresh install .cfg files and the reset one?

Hi!

This problem is still here: when upgrading from 1.5x to 1.6, automatic fading is lost. I downgraded to 1.5 to get it back, the only one solution seems to completely reinstall foobar.

Thanks for your time.

It's probably intentional change. Such fades can and should be done by DSP. There is a crossfader DSP bundled by the player which does the job correctly instead of the DS hack. The fade options that are left are something that DSPs can't do.

Thanks for your help Case,
that was the solution: I have add the "sqrSoft Advanced Crossfader" in components which works perfectly !
