http://eolindel.free.fr/images/covers.png (http://eolindel.free.fr/images/covers.png) (1,4Mo)

But I'm not sure that it is the kind of images that you want as no cover is written nowhere on these pictures

It' just cool pictures I had on my computer and that where with a square shape

And I just click on the album art panel to switch between the different pictures if I think that the image displayed does not fit the song

on my website, I gave a tip to have a random image for albums without any cover, as it is said, use it at your own risk (it may use CPU and make foobar a bit slower):

well frist you got to have some no cover pics on your components folder

Code: [Select]
-components\*$rand(10).png

this one Randomly shows any pic with a .png extention  thats in the components of the foobar dir..

& theres a guide in here also

Would it be possible to combine that random script with one that will pick a different pick depending on the artist?
For instance; I would put marley1.jpg, marley2.jpg, etc in my components directory.  Then, if there was no image in the folder with the songs, one of the marley pics would be displayed.  I tried
Code: [Select]
$if($stricmp(%artist%,Bob Marley),-components\marley$rand(5).jpg)

but, it dosn't work...

For instance; I would put marley1.jpg, marley2.jpg, etc in my components directory.  Then, if there was no image in the folder with the songs, one of the marley pics would be displayed.  I tried
Code: [Select]
$if($stricmp(%artist%,Bob Marley),-components\marley$rand(5).jpg)

but, it dosn't work...

Put the hyphen at the very beginning of the string, like this:

Code: [Select]
-$if($stricmp(%artist%,Bob Marley),components\marley$rand(5).jpg)

I found this one somewhere on this forum one day and it was so simple and effective I've been using it ever since. Thank you to whoever it was I stole this from.  It uses transparency so it works well with pretty much any background color you chose including prettypop.

Note: for some reason it doesnt appear properly through the browser. it's a grey star with the grey text "Sorry, photo not available" below it all on a transparent background.

PS: I rather liked the examples by Double8Syx and Tool++ and have considered modding them to use transparent background instead of black (I use black for my albumlist background but like how transparent changes with prettypop)

I'm using foobar .92 and album covers work normally in folders.
But I can't get random covers working, I've added this line "-components\*$rand(4).png" and I've put in the 4 images in the components folder named default0, default1, etc. and all I get is a black screen, Anyone know what wrong?

It usually is called default.png & should be located in your components directory. I believe the album art plugin is configured to look there automatically, if you store your image somewhere else you will need to change the path in the settings.

Anybody wanna tell me where to put the image so it works with pretty popup? Thanks a lot.

In your prettypop album art filenames list, after your normal source(s), add the location of your no-cover image.  For instance, this is what I use:

Code: [Select]
['('%date%') ']%album%;|C:\Program Files\foobar2000\components\default

Make sure you don't forget the pipe "|", which tells pretty popup that you're giving the entire path to the image.
Title: NoCover-Image
Post by: Yotsuya on 2006-06-24 13:20:12
If you use the pipe, the plugin will by default search from your foobar directory so in the interest of keeping things simple and compatible with regions where windows uses a different name for your program files you can simplify things to just ";|components\default" if you want prettypop to use the same default no-cover image as albumart.

Also keep in mind that prettypop will automatically add the extensions for all supported image types to the search, so dont specify a file extension in your sources list.  If you want prettypop to display cover.* from the song's directory, and if that is not found display any image from the song's directory, and if that is not found display the same default no-cover image as albumart.. then your prettypop source line should look like this:

Code: [Select]
cover;*;|components\default

The default line in my Pretty Popup settings looks like this:

Code: [Select]
folder;cover;coverart;front;%ALBUM%;|C:\albumart\%ALBUM%;*

Should I just make it

Code: [Select]
folder;cover;coverart;front;%ALBUM%;|components\default

in this case?
Title: NoCover-Image
Post by: Yotsuya on 2006-06-25 02:36:05
If you change it to that second line: First, it will look for a folder image in the song's directory. 2nd, it will search for cover.* in the song's directory. 3rd, it will look for coverart.* in the song's directory. 4th it will look for front.* in the song's directory. 5th, it will search the song's directory for a file with the same name as the album. lastly it will look in your foobar components directory for default.* (which is the default no-cover image for albumart).

You might want to put just a * somewhere in there as a source so that it will display any image in the song's directory.. but that all depends on what you would like it to do. Also, if you are using C:\Albumart to store cover's by album name as evident by your first line you might want to keep that too. Maybe something like this is what you are looking for:

Code: [Select]
folder;cover;coverart;front;%ALBUM%;*;|C:\albumart\%ALBUM%;|components\default

Thanks for the excellent breakdown of what everything does. The second line is definitely what I want it to do. I don't use C:\albumart.. that's just there by default with Pretty Popup. I was just confused by the ";*" at the very end of the first line above.. I guess what I really want is precisely what I came up with in the second line. I'll go test that

Thanks!

Something like this should do the trick:

Code: [Select]
$replace(%path%,%filename_ext%,)*FRONT.jpeg

I might have messed up the $replace() part, since I'm doing this from memory, but the important thing is the *FRONT.

HYDE: regarding your first post, Album Art Panel will automatically try the next source in the list, if it can't find the first source it tries.  So just put the No-Cover source at the end of your list.

Regarding the second question, that's a little strange.  When no track is playing, Album Art Panel should display art for the selected track.

albumart's more recent versions support TAGZ. for a quick reference of basic TAGZ functions refer to titleformat_help.html in your foobar dir. I believe Though albumart autocycles through the list until something is found so if those first four do not find an image (if that dont exist) a fifth entry would be automatically searched. You may want to try:

Code: [Select]
-components\albumart\%artist% - %album%.*
-components\albumart\%album%.*
-components\albumart\%directoryname%.*
-components\albumart\%artist%.*
-components\nocover\NoCover$rand(10).png

If you are trying something more elaborate than you can add conditions like:
-$if(condition,components$char(47)albumart$char(47)%artist% $char(45) %album%.$char(42),)
etc. so that certain sources are not handled unless certain conditions are met (like genre, nowplaying, etc).

hope that helps
Title: NoCover-Image
Post by: pepoluan on 2006-07-10 14:00:21
Use double-dash for no-cover albums.

AlbumArt can be configured to cycle through different "source groups", and can further be configured to bypass "no cover" files.

I think you should arrange the list like this one:

Alternative 1 for group 1
Alternative 2 for group 1
Alternative 3 for group 1
...
-Last alternative for group 1
Alternative 1 for group 2
Alternative 2 for group 2
...
-Last alternative for group 2
Alternative 1 for group 3
...
-Last alternative for group 3
--No cover group

With such grouping, AlbumArt tries from Alternative 1, 2, and so on in group 1 until it finds a file. 20 seconds later (configurable), it searches Alternative 1, 2, and so on in group 2. Then in group 3. And so on, bypassing the No cover group (unless you tell it to include that group).

Hope this helps.

-components\albumart\%artist% - %album%.*
-components\albumart\%album%.*
-components\albumart\%directoryname%.*
-components\albumart\%artist%.*
}
dont exist,
use this:
-components\nocover\NoCover$rand(10).png

sorry, but I dont have talent to script it myself , if someone can help-me, please!!! post.

albumart's more recent versions support TAGZ. for a quick reference of basic TAGZ functions refer to titleformat_help.html in your foobar dir. I believe Though albumart autocycles through the list until something is found so if those first four do not find an image (if that dont exist) a fifth entry would be automatically searched. You may want to try:

Code: [Select]
-components\albumart\%artist% - %album%.*
-components\albumart\%album%.*
-components\albumart\%directoryname%.*
-components\albumart\%artist%.*
-components\nocover\NoCover$rand(10).png

If you are trying something more elaborate than you can add conditions like:
-$if(condition,components$char(47)albumart$char(47)%artist% $char(45) %album%.$char(42),)
etc. so that certain sources are not handled unless certain conditions are met (like genre, nowplaying, etc).

hope that helps

Hmm, but how I do to translate it for Pretty Popup:
-components\nocover\NoCover$rand(10).png
I've added others tags, but no cover rand dont work.

My pretty popup config is:
Code: [Select]
folder;cover;coverart;front;%ALBUM%;*;|C:\albumart\%ALBUM%;|components\nocover\*.*;|components\albumart\%artist% - %album%;|components\albumart\%album%;|components\albumart\%directoryname%;|components\albumart\%artist%

I have downloaded some of the artwork but can't get foobar to display it. I'm using foobar v0.9.4. beta 1 and the source code is as follows

$replace(%path%,%filename_ext%,)*
-$replace(%path%,%filename_ext%,)..\*
--components\*$rand(10).png

I have 2 png files in the components folder named default0.png and default1.png.

What am i missing?

what if $rand(10) picks a number bigger than 1? if the first two sources are not satisfied then you get no image. Either make more default images or change 10 to a lower number.

Strangely, after 3 days of working, foobar has suddenly stopped displaying no cover art pngs again!! Code has not changed - I have not tweaked anything apart from DSP settings which shouldn't affect it. Normal album art is still working though, which is a relief.

Very baffled.

Well, just downloaded the latest version of album art panel and now no cover works. Still baffled at why it didn't work before since the source code is the same.

Title: NoCover-Image
Post by: schmakk on 2006-10-03 15:23:17
Heavily inspired by some of the previous posts, i made 10 images for "no cover"

(The forum allows 10 pictures per post, cant link them all)

Take those you like or get them all here: [a href="http://schmakk.dk/albumart.zip" target="_blank"]albumart.zip (http://img.schmakk.dk/viewer.php?id=7152default0.png)
All 20 images are in that one, around 2.5 megs.

If you want to randomly select one of them, and have streams display one of the "stream" images, place all the files in a subfolder of "components" called "albumart", then put this in a .txt file:
Code: [Select]
[foo_uie_albumart]
$if($stricmp($left(%path%,7),'http://'),'components\albumart\radio*.png',)
$replace(%path%,%filename_ext%,)*front*
-$replace(%path%,%filename_ext%,)*cover*
-$replace(%path%,%filename_ext%,)*
$replace(%path%,$directory(%path%,1)\%filename_ext%,)*front*
-$replace(%path%,$directory(%path%,1)\%filename_ext%,)*cover*
-$replace(%path%,$directory(%path%,1)\%filename_ext%,)*
--components\albumart\default*.png
[End]

then import that file into foo_uie_albumart. You have to select "Cycle all wildcard matches" and "Random" in the Behaviour settings, or manualle use $rand(10) in the sources to have random selection.

These sources will look for covers for your ordinary music in the same directory as the playing file is, or one directory up.
Title: NoCover-Image
Post by: golphcart on 2006-10-09 08:49:14
Jubei:  You did change the $rand(10) to $rand(2) didn't you?  The random function [ $rand(x) ] picks a number from 0 to x-1, so if you make x any number that doesn't exist in your no cover image filename, then nothing will be displayed.  For example, if you changed your source to:

--components\*$rand(6).png

then the random number could be 0,1,2,3,4, or 5, so that 2/3 of the time a picture will not show. got it?

I have a question about prettypop up and having it display certain images.

Code: [Select]
album_art;folder;cover;coverart;front;%ALBUM%;|C:\albumart\%ALBUM%;|components\albumart\default$rand(10);*

That's what I have now, but is there any way for it to display a random stream image if I'm listening to an online radio station?
Title: NoCover-Image
Post by: Yotsuya on 2007-01-14 20:32:40
// For Online Radio
$if($strcmp($left(%path%,7),http$char(58)$char(47)$char(47)),
|components\albumart\online-radio$rand(10)
,)

// And while we're at it, for audio cd's
$if($strcmp($left(%path%,7),cdda$char(58)$char(47)$char(47)),
|components\albumart\audiocd$rand(10)
,)

// NOTE: For Prettypop you do not need to specify a file extension for your image sources, it automatically performs wildcard matching for all supported image types.

Thanks Dirhael, good work.

Two little comments to make it even better if possible :
- In the original Apple version, the notes aren't doubled with a shadow : it's just a part of CoverFlow's effect (the covers are translucent so you see the next cover, and even the following one if you look closely)
- In the original Apple version, there is a circular color gradient, from light (center) to dark (borders).

Something more in line with this? I took a look at iTunes, and the gradient doesn't actually start in the center but rather more to the top. There's also a whole lot of banding in the original Apple gradient, so I dropped some of the noise I added previously.

Well, if you can post the image here at a decent resolution, I'm sure it won't be a problem to make the background black or translucent.

It seems like foobar is checking for %track artist% when the %album artist% isn't VA. I don't really know why; Anyone have any ideas what's going on?
There is no "=" operator in the title formatting syntax. The "=Various Artists" part is considered as literal text and does not influence the value of the condition, so it merely checks if the %album artist% field is present. The following should work as intended:
Code: [Select]
$if($stricmp(%album artist%,Various Artists),%track artist% - )%title%

Something I did up as part of an illuminated manuscript-like config that I'm working on and hope to finish before the end of time.

a lot of these seem overly high res and too big for just a no cover image.
If the computer struggles to scale an image quickly, why would it matter whether it’s of the “no cover” image or a real album cover?

Anyway, all these images look quite small to me. A CD is approx. 4.75 inches square, so a scan should be something like 1425x1425 pixels (that’s 300dpi) to retain enough detail. I wonder, do most Foobar users scan their album covers in high quality? (I’m new to this community.)

Maybe I’m just too much of a quality freak, but I don’t like the idea of having a perfect copy of my music on the computer with a low quality cover scan. I like to think that I have everything perfectly preserved on the computer and I never need to touch the CD again. Also, if the scan is anything less than 1,000 pixels wide, reading some of the text is going to be very difficult in some cases (like on the back or in the booklet).

I should add that I have a very old, slow computer and there is absolutely no noticable delay in Foobar scaling large images (1425 pixels+). I’d imagine that if slow scaling was a problem for people, Foobar could just display the images progressively, so you see it in low quality first and then it sharpens afterwards.

Been using high-res macro shots of my own blank CDs for a while, but recently swapped it out for this:

which is apparently how people entertained themselves before CDs and cover arts and whatnot. A detail from the Bread & Roses pub in London according to Flickr...

Docbeard, I love your second one. I feel like aliencat should have some sort of religion.

hi!I can´t randomize my nocover images in foobar 0.9.6.
With the Default UI I don't think it's possible. You can achieve that (or something similar) using Columns UI and Album Art Panel.

Perhaps you should be more specific about what doesn't work for you. Anyway, that's probably OT here: try asking in the ColumnsUI thread (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=28647) or in the foo_uie_albumart thread (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=39924) (or read the wiki (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:0.9_Album_Art_Panel_(foo_uie_albumart)#Link), if you haven't already).

Hi jazzy.

Have you tried foo_uie_albumart? Did you read the Wiki?
Quote
Configurable sources list allows cycling of multiple images for a single track
This means that you can create nocover1.jpg, nocover2.jpg, etc. and see them cycle while tracks without cover art are playing. I have, for example, something like --E:\Music\covers\nocover*.* in the plugin preferences.

Is that what you're after?

Alessandro

PS: I use Album Art Panel 0.2.7.1 with foobar 0.9.5.5 but I suppose it will work with 0.9.6 as well.

File -> Preferences -> Display -> Stub image path: (lowest line in "Album Art" section) - there you can define the path to your "No cover" image. As well as you can enter there specific complicated title formatting string which will allow you display different covers for different scenarios (like carriers/sources added to tags, files vs. cd tracks vs. radio streams, etc.)

For the DUI and the current foobar2000 v1.2.9, it is: Preferences > Display  -> Stub image path.
