ATRAC3Plus vs MDLP Type-S

What is the difference between Atrac3Plus and MDLP Type-S? Does one format offer a higher compression than the other. Sony claims 480 songs can be stored on a single 700MB CD. That is quite impressive.

That's not impressive. The smaller the filesize the lower the quality. Moreover ATRAC3+ quality is not that amazing. Check this thread.
