Question about hearing differences between lossy/lossless

Hi, I recently ripped an Aphex Twin CD using the newest LAME mp3 encoder at VBR V0 extreme (dbpoweramp) and I also ripped in lossless (in .wav by accident right before I ripped in LAME) and I realize that V0 lame is supposed to be transparent, but maybe I'm imagining things but I seem to hear differences in depth/clarity and bass (increase, more rich) with the lossless, even with the lame settings at a really high rate. I'm using Sennheiser HD 429 headphones ( http://www.sennheiserusa.com/over-ear-head...mid-size_504763 ) not cheap but not really audiophile either, so I'm wondering it's just in my mind that I think I'm hearing a sound difference, or is it? Any help appreciated.
