Are APE2 tags ok?

There seem to be lots of warnings NOT to use ID3V2 files (although they have always worked fine with me). How about APE2 tags, are they fine?

So how come, when I start playing a track in foobar it only displays "Track01.ape"???

Do I need to activate it somehow

I used ape1 tags to tag my ape audio files

You probably need to selected the file and:
right-click -> database -> Reload info from file

Is it possible to apply APE2 tags to *.ape audio files?

I am now trying to at the --track value to all my audio tracks using tag frontend.

The only way I know how to do this is by typing in "--Track 01" in "Other Options".  This will add "01" to the first tag.

This adds "01" to all tracks.  Will I have to add a track number individually?  As this will be very time consuming.  Is there no automated way, so the track number increments by 1 each time???

How does "--trackinc" work?

I typed in "--trackinc" and nothing happened.  I checked the value for "Track" and it was still blank!!!!

I figured out how to apply APE2 tags to ape files!

I am assuming no one knew how to do this as I got no replies to this question, or were you waiting for me to figure it out for my self?

Anyway, I still have not figured out how to apply auto incrementing numbers to selected tracks.  I think I need to use "--trackinc" but dont know how.

Please help

anyone

The same way as with EAC, just use CDex variables.
Add something like this:
--artist "%a" --title "%t" --album "%b" --year "%y" --track "%tn"
to command line, it will automatically write ape2 tags.
BTW with mppenc 1.15, you can encode w/o temp wavs (on-the-fly).

Use both --track 1 and --trackinc. But you only need this if your filenames don't have tracknumbers, if they do you should just use correct scheme and let Tag read values from path.

Use both --track 1 and --trackinc

I must have tried every possible combination with --track and --trackinc and 1 except that one

Oh well, thats for solving that little problem for me Case
