foobar2000 mobile / Certain mp3-files break playback
Last post by AlexForFoo -
Hi,

recently I switched from a Samsung Galaxy S10e (Android 12, One-Ui 4.1) to a Galaxy S25 (Android 15, One-UI 7). I moved my complete music library without any manipulation from the old phones sdcard to the new phones internal memory. On both phones the same version of foobar2000 mobile is installed via play store.

On the new phone there's a playback problem. On some files playback starts but hangs immediatly after approx. a second. The time indicator moves from 0:00 to 0:01 and jumps back to 0:00 in an endless loop while there's no sound. Trying to skip to the next or previous song or any other file in the library doesn't help, the same behaviour (loop) on every other file. The only way out then is stopping the app in the apps preferences manually.

Only certain files cause this type of freeze and it is reproducible with them. The weird thing is that after a clean restart of the app (after stopping it manually) these causing files play once without any problem but then the next song failes to be played.

On the old phone (and on other previous smartphones I used in the past) I never had any of this before with the same songs/files. Furthermore, those "breaking" files are played without any problem in other music apps on the S25. So it may be the combination of foobar2000 and the new phone or android version.

Is there anything I can do about it, some pref or so? If no, is there anything I can contribute like logs etc? If so, please let me know how to get and where to send them.

Best regards,
Alex.

General - (fb2k) / Any Biography solution for 64bit?
Last post by AndreaT -
Hello DevTeam,
I started exploring Foobar 64bit (Intel) version 2.24.3 on a Windows 11 laptop.

I immediately faced the problem that Spider Monkey Panel 1.6.1 is not supported (or I have not understood how to install it), therefore I cannot run the JS Biography-v1.4.2.mod.1.

Do you know how of another JS host solution? Or anyother stand alone 64bit compatible component providing some kind of Biography info?

Many thanks and kind regards to all of you for the great job done so far!

Support - (fb2k) / Performance issue on 64bit: ASIO driver 2.2.4 high CPU usage
Last post by AndreaT -
Hello @Peter , I started evaluating the 64bit version of Foobar 2.24.3.
Apart from the not existing 64bit version of certain key components I am using, the other big problem I noted is about overall performance of the ASIO driver 2.2.4 in 64bit mode.

On my Windows 11 (64bit, 16GB RAM, 3GHz CPU speed, USB 3.1 interfaces...), running the Beheringer UMC ASIO driver, I have this strange problem:
- Running your ASIO driver in 64bit mode, the CPU usage goes immediately at 100% and everyhing chokes.
- Running our ASIO driver with the 64bit mode disable, the CPU usage remains around 20%,

So, in my case, there is some kind of performance issue with the 64bit mode.

All the best, Andrea

3rd Party Plugins - (fb2k) / Re: Columns UI
Last post by josemescud -
I've just tested 3.0 and it seems that the switch from GDI to DirectWrite has broken the (rather unorthodox) usage of the $tab() character. Previously, it allowed for alignment changes within the same line in a playlist column or grouping - or, more accurately, it divided the line into columns. There's also some weird horizontal line introduced.

E.g. my playlist groups before:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
...and after:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I understand that the tab now renders correctly, but this comes at the cost of a unique functionality that I can no logner reproduce. I know I'm not alone in this, because I borrowed this idea from someone else's theme over a decade ago and I've seen it used in many custom themes since.
Message to Skeebadoo

I read your message #8219 in which you show a picture of your foobar (image 1).
I see that you have at least 2 groupings. I would like to know how you have been able to apply a font change in grouping 2 where you even use an italic font.
I have not been able to do it because only one font can be applied to all groupings (colours & fonts / fonts: Playlist view: Group titles).
In the image 2 I attach the aspect of my foobar where several groupings are executed:
   1. For the artist
   2. Separation line between albums
   3. For the album
   4. For discnumber

I point with an arrow to grouping 2 (for the discnumber) to which I would like to apply another source. Is this possible?

v2.17.2.0, 2025-03-19

* Fixed: Crash while attempting to open a MIDI file containing non-ASCII characters. An old bug suddenly surfaced while attempting to open a WRD file containing external lyrics.
  * Thank you to ha7pro for reporting the bug and helping me fix it.

Download from GitHub or the foobar2000 Components repository.

Automatic update from within foobar2000 does not work.
THX!
it works ^_^
