We invite musicians from around the world to audition for the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. Your video entries will be combined into the first ever collaborative virtual performance, and the world will select the best of you to perform at New York City's Carnegie Hall in April 2009.
An interesting initiative. However I have doubts that "the world" knows what to listen (or look?) for. It doesn't seem to be a blind audition (behind a curtain like many orchestras do).
They might end up with a good looking orchestra  What do you think about this selection procedure ?
I'd be very interested to see how much influence the video (picture) has on the judgement. That could be investigated by submitting identical soundtracks with different videos (aka play-back).
