AccurateRip v3

AudioSAFE was launched a number of weeks ago, it allows for the online backup of audio tracks, with a difference: the service is free to backup, already AudioSAFE stores 1% of the worlds audio, in such a short space of time.

AudioSAFE will be the basis for AccurateRip v3, using AudioSAFE as the basis for verification has these advantages:
  • AudioSAFE will eventually contain more audio than AccurateRip (v1/v2), it will contain the whole worlds audio,
  • Verification can be done on a track basis, without the need for CD TOC,
  • Verification can be done without the need to offset correct rips.
  • Already ripped tracks can be verified.

Potentially error corrections could performed using a PAR2 style correction (we now have 100's of TBs at our disposal to handle the large amount of PAR recovery based on tracks not whole discs).

At this time it is a proposal, if you are a regular user of AccurateRip, try out audiosafe ( www.audiosafe.com ), your participation in cataloging the worlds audio will speed the adoption of AccurateRip v3

How did you calculate the 1% of the worlds audio ? Do you have some numbers ? Can you tell us how much there is audio in the world ?

Between 2.5 to 3 million unique discs (from AccurateRip estimations), the same track might appear on multiple discs though.

When i first proposed this to you in February 2010, you sounded skeptical.

Are you offering to join forces to work on CTDB, or are you creating a proprietary alternative?

That seems to me like a very optimistic prediction. How do you know that AudioSAFE (proprietary windows backup solution) will ever have a larger user base than AccurateRip (open, platform independent interface)?

Even if it will - currently you get AccurateRIP submissions from all rips, lossy or not. v3 will only work with lossless rips. How large is the percentage of lossless rips in the AudioSAFE database so far?

Btw. "the whole worlds audio" is quite a bold term. After all, the audio distributed on CDs is only a small fraction of the worlds audio spread through all the different media

Only skeptical about the need for ctdb to be disc rather than track based, also the potential legal implications behind correcting.

Joining forces is worthy, best not to reinvent the wheel, at this stage to process of correction is all up in the air, closer to implementation the idea would better known.

I take it as a maybe  Well, if you need any help in creating CTDB plugin for dbPoweramp, or have a more detailed idea how exactly to improve CTDB just let me know.
