Please recommend CD/DVD/BD player for CD ripping (external use, case OK)

I occasionally want to play dvd's blue ray movies and I also want to rip my cd's to flac.
I don't really care about burning capability at all, If I want to rip a dvd or blueray it goes to a file on my hard disk.
Are there some known good drives I should look at ?
I am considering this drive.
PX-891SAF-PLUS from plextor.
I will be stuffing the drive in an external case so I can use it with my laptop.
I appreciate any and all advice.
