Computer Slows Down After Approximately Two Weeks of Continuous Play

This is a reproducible issue that I have faced ever since I started using fb2k.  It happens repeatedly, but I am not sure what causes this issue.  It could very well be one of the plugins that I am using that causes it.  What happens is that I play a play list non-stop that plays songs in a shuffled order.  After about two weeks of play, my computer absolutely slows to a crawl.  I can barely do anything at all.  It just happened again about 15 minutes ago. The odd thing is once I closed fb2k, my computer instantly returned to normal speed.

I am currently using DarkOne v4.0 theme and its required plugins.  Every one of them is updated to the absolute latest version, and I know there is at least one required that is older but still works.  I have definitely identified it as fb2k and/or its plugins as the cause.  It's most likely a plugin that may be the cause.  My music actually continues to play fine without missing a beat, but Windows 10 becomes unusably slow.

Has anyone seen this or have ideas on what this issue could be?  I used to shut down the computer, reboot then start fb2k again for a speed recovery until the issue happens again.  This time I simply shut down fb2k, and my speed instantly recovered.

I know DarkOne is a massively popular theme but I think it'll be hard to get help from other people on this due to the timespans involved.

As with any problem related to 3rd party components (which it almost certainly is), I'd start with looking at the troubleshooter report...

https://help.foobar2000.org/troubleshooter/components/27ce5baaa2e552e5+c51828b51d77c620+23628f73007d0460+c54c1cee10f650b6+6d0730961e1fb610

At a quick glance there are newer versions of Monkeys Audio and SACD components.

Next time it happens, have a look at Task Manager to see how much memory foobar is using, compared to how much currently after a fresh restart. (Could be a memory leak somewhere?) - Also do this to check CPU usage occasionally.

You'd probably have to provide more diagnostic information - perhaps see Appendix A / B / C from the end of the pinned support topic - but I'm not sure which one would best apply here. (Devs?)

Also, which OS version are you on?

You could try checking the properties of your foobar2000 instance with process explorer.

If you have an excessive amount of gdi handles (in the thousands, I think apps/windows conk out when it reaches 10000), that would probably point towards it being some display related component rather than input. Still, it doesn't help much identifying which is to blame.

I am running Windows 10 Pro 1909. Also, I did update monkey's audio after checking updates.  I do not even remember why I have SACD installed. I think I am using it only to decode DTS.  I will try updating it too, but I doubt that is related to the issue.

The odd thing is I have not even rebooted my machine since this incident, and Windows 10 is back to running very fast again.  It's like nothing even happened.

Thanks.  I do have process explorer already.  I will check it again after some time.  It's probably just one bad component that is the cause.  The tricky part is identifying which one.  Right now GDI Handles is at 1,625 that is not overly high.  I will recheck it next time it happens.

Right after I posted this GDI Handles went up to 1,632.  It is slowly going up.  Perhaps this is the reason.

Also, the memory fb2k uses slowly goes up too.  It probably is a memory leak of something.  My machine has 128GB.  Closing fb2k seems to be enough for Windows to recover the issue on its own.

foo_uie_lyrics3.dll (2016-03-18 20:04:24 UTC)
    Lyric Show Panel 3 0.5

You might try removing that one.

I switched from that to openlyrics, If lyrics are essential for you.

Being a scripting nerd, I ought to be ashamed of myself for not thinking of it before but it's quite possible one of the WSH panel mod scripts is the culprit. Normally, javascript writers don't have to concern themselves with managing resources but these components offer a murky crossover with C++ objects like fonts and images which have to be treated with care. I have pretty much zero confidence my own scripts would withstand being left running for 2 weeks so I'm certainly not pointing my finger at anyone else.

Thank you for your on this, and this is a likely cause of the issue.
I also updated fb2k to the latest version-- 1.67.  This has been an ongoing issue with all versions I have ever run, so I am not expecting any changes with this update.
