this test is done with cheap headphones, no hi-end equiptment is used
I've uploaded the sample....

oggencaqk2 is producing weird tones, the tone is quite different
from the original, n quite hissy too, even oggencgt3b2 has this problem
-----> I do not know how to describe it, maybe u guys should try yourself
although all the other codecs are distinguishable at 128kbps
on this sample, but at least they don't produce such annoying hiss


From this ABX result, I can also conclude that WMA/WMA Pro is a total crap
even at such high bitrate (246kbps) on such easy material, it is distinguishable
from the original, u just need more concentration, I can get 7/10 with CHEAP HEADPHONES
MS is claiming that WMA 64kbps is CD quality??????


iTunes 4.2 AAC 192kbps is indistinguishable!
I get 5/10 when ABX

Thanks for the tests.

Could be the point stereo problem.  Try with aoTuV beta 2 (rather than he combined one) and also QKTune beta 3.2.  I'm not sure about aoTuV (since I haven't had time to look into the source), but I know for sure that the boost specifically caused by point stereo is addressed in QK3.2.  If the hiss is present in aoTuV, then we can narrow it down.  If it is reduced in some way with QK3.2, then we can definitely narrow it down even more to point stereo.

Note:  This merged encoder (oggencaqk2) does not contain the point stereo code of QK3.2.  Only impulse tunings.

the HF boost is not so obvious in both qk or aotuv
but its still there..........I need more concentration

the sequence for HF boost is
aotuv < qk2 < aqk2/gt2b3/v1

the HF boost in qk2 is a bit higher than aotuv
n the aqk2 or gt3b2 is worse

Looks like the merged encoder is a no-goer.  The impulse tunings must be causing the hiss or it is cancelling the benefits brought about by aoTuV.  Hmm...a bit of dilemma.
