Title: WavPack & fb2k v 9.5.5 Converter: "installing.exe files"
Post by: admsupport on 2008-08-25 02:09:40
Hi,
I am new to this.
I have downloaded the wavpack zip folder

wavpack-4.50
wavpack.exe
wvunpack.exe
wvselfx.exe
wvgain.exe

I have copied in the foobar2000 application folder the wavpack.exe (as the other codec .flac, .ogg, .mp3, etc.)
However I do not know what to do with the other .exe file.
can somebody help with the function of these files and if they need to be include in the fb2k application folder (I mean, that's the location I have chosen to put the different codec)
I guess wvunpack.exe is related to the hybrid function? but I might be wrong

++ one more thing: when I have the lossy & losseless files.wv in a folder if I want to get them back  to one file eg:.flac or wav, all I need to do is to select the .wv losseless file? I am a bit confuse.

Thanks for some clarity.

wavpack.exe is the encoder.
wvunpack.exe is the decoder.
wvselfx.exe makes self-extracting executables.
wvgain.exe (I assume) is for ReplayGain.

foobar2000 should only need wavpack.exe.

In the case I want to "decode" a wv pack back to wav, or flac with foobar2000, there is no need
of the wvunpack.exe?

Yes. foobar2000 uses external applications only for encoding, decoding is built-in in standard input array (foo_input_std) or additional component DLLs (e.g. foo_input_monkey).
