Nero Recode (v7) does not convert avi files properly

Hi, I am converting a load of videos to MPEG4 in order to play on my iPod Video. Nero Recode is the best software I have found for doing this for MPG's but it is not converting AVI's properly. I get a rainbow effect on the video and its not watchable. The original avi plays perfectly in Media Player and iTunes. I have ffdshow installed to decode the video files.

I am using the Nero Recodes built in Apple iPod (digital category) and iPod Video (Nero Digital profile).

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

G

Sorry for spamming, but as it's also related to Nero and Recode's iPod Video converting capabilities, you may take a look at http://www.petitiononline.com/h264nero/petition.html

Regarding your problem: You may want to give AviSynth a try, it could solve the problem, helped me very often.
