[HELP] My songs just randomly disappeared.

I have googled and I feel like a complete retard for asking this, I am kinda new to DIY stuff on computers, but I managed to set up lots of stuff like Comserver2000 and stuff, but then I downloaded a new song today, opened it in Foobar2000 and it was the only song in my library after I put it in. I tried looking all over but I cannot figure out where the rest of my songs went... Help me please <3 I will screenshot.

I totally feel like a noob because it's probably some simple thing... :/
EDIT: Thanks for moving it, I had no idea where to put it so I just kinda put it wherever. Sorry.

I think you just over-wrote fb2k's playlist, files should still be somewhere on your HD.
To prevent this from happening in the future check "set enqueue as default action" in Preferences/File Types. You can also specify playlist to which new files will be sent in Preferences/General.

Hmm, I assume my playlist doesn't automatically save itself? I don't know why adding 1 file would overwrite like 1200, but I guess that's disappointing. I will have to start all over again by finding all the mp3s around my HD. Thanks!

foobar2000 saves its settings when you exit the program.

Not necessary. To readd all of your playable files to your playlist go to foobar's main menu File -> Add Folder, choose the root of your hard disk(s) or your partitions and foobar2000 does the job for you.

As long as foobar has not been closed the menu command Edit -> Undo does also readd files which have been deleted accidentally.

Why don't you have the mp3s organised into the one directory? E.g., having them all arranged in the Music folder.

You sound really gratefully for the quick help you get here.

How about to take yourself a close look at foobar's options?

You can restrict incoming files to mp3 or to whatever file type you like.

You can use foobar to move all of your scattered mp3s (or whatever) into one location. Select the music that you listen to, right click -> File Operations -> Move to ... (If you don't have this you may need to re-run the installer and select the File Operations component, you won't lose any settings doing this.)

After you have done this you can add the collection to foobar's media library for easy access, Preferences -> Media Library : Add...

Thank you guys very much for your help. I set a folder and now it's awesome. I no longer have any troubles with this media player except one, and that is that whenever I
right click > open with > foobar2000, it always makes a new playlist and this is what happened to create this topic.. Any way I can make it just do what iTunes does and put it in my playlist?
Thanks for your help guise, I wish I could somehow return this but I am dumb.

carasson,

try to set "Enqueue" as the default action:

foobar v0.9.6.x -> Preferences, File Types
foobar v1.0 -> Preferences, Shell Integration

Edit: And check your setting "Always send new files to playlist:" (same configuration dialog)

Just an answer from another dumb...
