Plugin for cool edit for layer 1 and 2

Hello All,

Cool edit doesnt seems to recognise a layer 1 or layer 2 coded stream. Is there any plugin available that will do the job? I know it is almost impossible as both are MP3 itself. But I saw a plugin for Lame and since it has a decoder built in, will it do the job?

Cant it be done by making a file name .mp2 and .mp1?

Tony

Most probably, since the decoder is based on mpg123.

Nope, these are different standards and therefore require different decoders.

there was a filter for encoding/decoding MP1/MP2 in CEP.
It's based on AT&T and Musicam PAMs but it's quite buggy.
But I like its frequency cut-off !

ask me and I'll you give them,
PS to Roberto: do you remember that old old MP3 plugin based on Maplay ? I'm sure you've got this "gem"

Does it even work at all? It crashed CEP every time I tried to use it.
I think I could only get it to work on CoolEdit '96

I don't recommend you to use these plugins:
it's quite buggy (low freq error).
Youd' better to choose CDex for encoding your MP2s...

My objective is not encoding but decoding. I mean to have a first level testing of my decoded file. In that case is these filters reliable?
