Random stuttering from sd card

Please make Foobar work normally with less than ideal SD cards. Been getting too much random stuttering lately.

I don't know if it's foobar2000 mobile for Android or iOS.
I don't know the version either.
For example, many people set the My Music folder on their SD card as their Media Library.
There is no problem.

Have you tried using a different manufacturer of SD card?

Android is the only mobile OS of two mentioned to support SD cards for additional storage providing a phone has built-in SD card trays or slots.  It wouldn't be practical to walk around with a dongle everywhere just to read an SD card if Apple supports them that way that is.

I am using a Type-C microSD card reader (Apple iPad mini).
You're going way off topic and it's not an answer to the questioner.
Please do not make unnecessarily critical posts.

No judgement or anything ill intended, nor do I mean to derail this topic.

Usually when I hear SD Card my first thought is Android.  I've not seen anyone walk around with a tablet as they're a little bulky to carry around compared to a phone, let alone carry an microSD card reader with them.  Everybody's use case is different.  I'll leave at that.

? ? ?

Your thinking is shallow.

I see people using it.

I keep it in my bag and use it with wireless headphones.
I can use foobar2000 mobile on your MacBook. It's obvious to connect a Type-C SD card reader.
I also use it at home.
As you say, usage is different for everyone. That's what I should say.
Do you ultimately end up with, "I've never seen it"?

I've never seen it out in public or anywhere else I've been and that's always been my experience.

And please re-read this quote below:
I'll leave at that.

It's your experience, your little experience
Now, you probably haven't seen anyone using a Type C DAC either.
(USB C Type C MicroSD SD Card Reader with Type C)

The important thing here is not "I have never seen it", but "I can use it, I am using it".

> I'll leave at that.
That is not for you to decide.

I'll leave at that.

Important addition:
Everyone knows that there are genuine Apple accessories.
One of them is the genuine Apple USB SD Card Reader.
It has been around for over ten years, and there have been some very compact models for a long time.

Why is such a small tool so bulky?
People who like audio will even connect a DAC.
Why do I have to explain such an obvious thing?

What version of foobar2000 are you using? The output buffer in Android version was unintentionally very short prior to version 1.6.2.
What kind of SD card are you using and what kind of files are you playing from the card? For example Class 2 SD card has only 2 MB/s transfer speed, if you try to play some extreme lossless formats their bitrate might simply be too high.

Are you certain the stuttering is related to SD card? Same files work fine when playing from internal storage? On Android you can configure different output methods, some are buggy on some devices. And when talking about extreme formats, there are audio formats that require a lot of processing power to decode. Knowing the format and your possible DSP configuration and device might be helpful.

In case your audio format is something exotic you could easily verify that your device is fast enough to handle them. Just pick a track and tap it for a few seconds to get a context menu. You can access Decode speed test from the menu and see how fast the format can be decoded with a single thread. If you want a realistic test you should enable the "convert to integer format" with your output bitdepth and enable all the DSPs you use during playback. I don't know how slow it would have to be to cause problems with all the multitasking and potential OS resampling taking place, but I'd be worried if the speed wasn't at least 2x realtime.
