The CD-TEXT data in the cue sheet is normally filled in with data from sources other than the CD anyway.

My point exactly!  Of my discs, only a small fraction contain cd-text.

Preserving CD-TEXT isn't even a compelling reason to generate a cue sheet

The same can be said for just about everything stored in a CUE sheet for most discs* but don't tell that to the anal-retentive types.

(*) Pre-emphasis and HTOA are the only notable exceptions, AFAIC, though I have a few discs with interesting index information; maybe more if I had some classical titles(?).
