Masstagger changes file date if there's no changes

Hi,

I always thought it's someone elses fault, but Masstagger is the cause. It changes the files (file system) "Last changed" date to the current time, even if there is no changes to be made. Which can be seen in Masstaggers "Output preview".

This is a huge problem with file syncing.

I'm surprised!

Thx

Just a heads up to warn you that it may not change. Masstagger was considered deprecated by Peter already in 2009, though thankfully it has seen a couple updates since then.

Ah didn't notice that. It's a bit weird, there's no alternative for batch tag actions afaics.

Agree 100%. There is nothing similar for complex scripts or batch actions, why would it be considered deprecated if there is no alternative?

Ouch, didn't notice that before.  Yes that will prolong/foul ("is there really something different or is it just the date modified bug?") a sync operation.

Since the plugin as been updated for 64-bit, dark mode, etc as regor/Squeller indicate, please can someone fix this problem?  I wonder how many files now I've "synced" unnecessarily.

Files identical before/after fortunately. (File comparison with Totalcmd). It's really just the unnecessary timestamp change.
If anyone wants to test it, you need to add at least one action (which then does nothing), like "Replace Value, Field name TITLE, old value iteruzituztizlkjhfksj new value whatever" so that it previews it won't do anything, then run it.
