Title: Plugin Request: module playback using BASS
Post by: ap1978 on 2003-03-13 16:16:43
A module playback plugin using the BASS sound system (http://www.un4seen.com/bass.html) would have been great. It's made by the creator of XMPlay, the best module formats player for Windows IMHO.

The modplug engine, which fb uses, is just as accurate... at least except for some foobar-specific bugs.

define "foobar-specific bugs", elaborate please. Don't piss out statements like that without backing them out.

They've all been brought up before.

...but, the ones I was "pissing out" were:

-the bug where the mod files play faster when their sample rate is set too high (though this is perhaps not a bug, anyway, check this (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/show.php/act/ST/f/29/t/7443) thread)

-the fact that when you skip time during playback playback foobar does not actually read ahead in the mod files, so tempo and other changes are ignored.

these are not bugs in the actual modplug player so I figured I would call them 'foobar specific'

Found a module decoder based on BASS.dll  .... Check it out at kode's Foobar2000 plug-ins (http://home.earthlink.net/~kode54/foobar2000/)

You are too late  the new BASS based plugin has been discussed in this (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=29&t=7586) thread before. Check it out for info.
