Thanks! That works really well, and supports both Opus VBR and FLAC.
How do I mix it with mic input though?

You can use a custom encoder e. g ffmpeg to mix mic with pipe.

Look into ffmpeg docs

Every Android phone with a microsd card slot ever made will support up to the maximum size allowed by the standard, which is 2TB.

No the statement is false because I have inserted a 64 GB micro SD card into the memory card slot of a phone which doesn't support 64 GB external memory but supports 32 GB and I was unable to access the content present in 64 GB memory card.

The above happened a number of times for different phones.

Interesting fact is that when I connect 64 GB memory card through USB otg to an Android phone which doesn't support 64 GB external memory I am unable to access the content.
This further hints at different FS used in your instance - as long as you keep FAT, despite its limitations, there are no issues.

To clarify. I have no X versions of either the M40 or M50.  Having no experience with either, I can't have an informed opinion, and I don't feel comfortable with granting an opinion based on measurements   I suspect that the M40  might work out well with equalization.
So, what can you tell me about the M40 and M50? Thanks!

I could not get tag update working on any Opus combined with Icecast.

If you want to ditch LS try foo_streamer

Can't find any trigger in foobar's settings

Why would someone desire the use of low-latency lossless streaming? For voice communication there is a.f.a.i.k. no need for lossless transfer. For latency critical transfer you could suffice with an uncompressed stream.

I'm just curious who would use it.

I personally have had all my music in Wavpack, then transcoded back to FLAC because of compatibility issues when searching for other playback software. In a few months some servers (at work) will be replaced and the 'old' servers will become test servers for the IT dept. so I get a 'personal' server I can do everything I want with it (2 socket 12 core machine with 96GB RAM. This was a VM host. I'm thinking of using this machine to crunch all my music to WavPack in the highest possible comression ratio :)

Is there some extreme command line possible with even larger blocks and compression efficiency?

You're right about the tags, they weren't ever working with Opus here either. Not with the built-in nor external encoder.

I have various tests streams. Maybe I had seen the ogg/vorbis one and got confused.

I've yet to try LiquidSoap on linux. Maybe "Ubuntu Bash for Windows 10" is an option.
