Where does one begin?

Hey guys, can someone give me a hand? All this stuff is pretty overwhelming for an old codger like me.

I want to use EAC and LAME to go from CD to MP3 (I think).

Where does one begin? Any tutorials?

EAC's a good choice for starters. But why MP3? Is it a portability issue? If portability is not an issue there are much better choices of codec - MPC, ogg and AAC. Is file size important? We need more information on your requirements for encoding to offer focussed advice.

Over to you!!

for a guide to set up EAC go here: http://www.ping.be/satcp/

If you follow that you would be set up to get perfect ripping.

Then comes encoding but we need to know what you need first.
