A prolific and knowledgeable poster has passed away in piece.
The place I learned this sad fact is a bit of surprise if not piquant.

He will most certainly be missed. Thanks for everything Arny.
I'll miss seeing his posts. They were frequently enlightening for me.
Thank you very much Mr. Krueger for sharing your wealth of knowledge with all of us.
He was always well-meaning and tried to fight the good fight. The increasingly nonsensical and willfully ignorant world just got stronger.
RIP Arny, whatever differences of opinions we had, I considered him to be on the right side of reason
RIP Arny, and thank you.
I'm very sorry to read this. Much too young.
Well darn. That was an unexpected topic title to read. RIP.
Sad to hear that. Rest in peace, Sir Arnold. Your ideas will live forever.
This is sad. :(
Well, that just sucks. Rest in peace, friend.
He was two months younger than my dad, too.
This is very sad news. Rest in peace Arnold, and thank you for all the input you made to the world of audio.
I'm sad, he was full of knowledge and willing to share that, I have only respects for the man. RIP, Arnie.
Sad news.
What a shame to hear this. His posts were generally interesting. R.I.P.
Oh no, these are sad news. Rest in peace, Mr. Krueger. Condolences to his family.
WTF? Damn... No words.... ;(
I did not realise he was in his 70's, he certainly will be missed on this forum.
Sad. rip
Arny will be missed. I bet he now spends some time to arrange a harp ABX session above there.
My deepest sympathies go out to his family. A few weeks ago my father left and even if you know it is coming soon it is hard.
What a sad day. Rest in peace, Mr. Krueger.
I'm deeply sad and shocked to hear that.
He was a truly gallant gentleman who wouldn't bat an eyelid in helping laymen like me - who've certainly benefited from his incredibly vast knowledge.
RIP and thank you so much, Arny. :-(
Rest in peace. :(
How sad, he was posting about listening tests just this month.
He made a difference.
Very sad. We've lost a true character. Condolences to his family.
I had my run-ins with Arny, but mainly over presentation rather than content.
Most of what he had to say about audio was spot-on, although it was sometimes delivered with a little too much vitriol.
I wonder how long it'll be before he has an argument with God.
Arnold introduced me to ASR so I also left a message there. I didn't have too many conversations with him in HA but I read a lot of his posts in forums and newsgroups and learned a lot from him.
Thanks and RIP.
the effort he made in making this field much less ignorant is immense. he will be missed. RIP.
:-(
Truly knowledgeable and full of field experience, he did not let nonsense crap pass without reasoning. To some a bit harsh, but I bet it was not easy for him to read subjective unscientific load without pointing the facts from his personal experience or just plain science.
I liked reading his posts.
RIP
My condolences to his family and friends. Learned a lot from him.
He will be missed.
May he be remembered fondly.
RIP Arny
Thanks Mr. Krueger.
Funny how some people are so much larger than life. And crazy how much you can miss someone you never met.
Sad news indeed - his posts always were friendly an knowledgeable
I never had direct contact to him, but will miss him!
His ABX method for unbiased listening tests will always be essential
Farewell, Mr. Krueger.
I have only recently joined this forum; broken hifi needed replacement so researching options.
Soon found Arny suggesting much cheaper options than I allowed for, so rest of budget being spent on more concert tickets.
Thanks Arny for sensible advice.
My condolences. Very interesting posts for so many years. A true loss :'[
RIP RIP RIP. One of my favorites in the forum. Very sad news.
Wish I'd actually met him in person; it's my own fault that I never did. I remember Arny's frequent letters to the editor in The Audio Amateur (before it capitulated to the audiophool mentality) and his willingness to engage with anyone over some of the ideas presented therein. Later, it was internet news feeds and finally forums like this. As far as I can tell, he never gave up his principles.
I'm glad at least I was able to interact with him on this forum; our backgrounds were similar enough that I 'got' where he was coming from most of the time. His passing is a keenly-felt loss to the audio world.
I first encountered Arny back on rec.audio, about 20 years ago, and he never wavered then or now in his insistence on science and accuracy. It helped that he knew his shit. Never met him in person, but my offlist communications with him revealed him to be a man of integrity, someone who did what he said he would do. I have spent hours just researching lists for his posts, because there was always something new to learn.
Bon voyage, my friend.
RIP, a true character who will be missed. I hope the music is sweet where he is going.
Very sad to read this news :(
RIP, Mr. Krueger will be greatly missed.
What a sad news... :(
You have always fought for science and reason. So, I won't say "rest in peace, Arny". Eternal peace and quiet are for people who don't do anything, and I doubt you'd want to sit around doing nothing.
I will miss you.
Be yourself, wherever you are, if you are... Thank you for being here for so many years.
Rest in peace.
Very sad news indeed. Thanks for all he did to drive ignorance out of HiFi.
You will be missed. Condolences to the family.
RIP
Very sad to hear this news. His posts on this forum were (and remain) a frequent resource; I'm sure he'll be missed by everyone here.
All the way back to rec.audio.* days, he indefatigably fought the good fight against rampant audio nonsense.
R.I.P. Arny, you magnificent bastard. I'll miss you.
His posts on this forum were (and remain) a frequent resource;
I now it's just the natural course of things, but it's funny how an insightful person's legacy works, as many future newcomers will, along the next decade, invariably come across threads in this forum where his worthy contributions will be present, and regardless of agreeing or disagreeing with his views, possibly wonder "Gee, this guy surely
knows his stuff!" - only to either move on after finding their answer or, if continuing over here, learn of his demise through this thread, and, regardless of how far ahead of us, probably feel as gutted as many of us are ATM.
Sad news. RIP Arnold. He was a wealth of knowledge; his posts were informative, if not, at times, entertaining. His contributions to HA and the larger world of audio will be greatly missed. Although I didn't know Arny personally, I would like to acknowledge him for saving me and my family incalculable amounts of money over the past decade. If not for stumbling across his posts of science and reason, I'm certain I'd have purchased many overpriced "snake oil" audiophool pieces of gear over the years. Thank you Arnold for sharing your experience and knowledge with us audio laymen.
Best regards,
LedHed8
Away from audio stuffs for months. Today suddenly I was wondering about Arny, visited this forum and found this terrible news.
Rest in peace Arny.
RIP... well I hope it's not too peaceful and there's plenty of good music where you are Arny :-)

I'm very sorry to hear this as well. I had actually just thought about writing to him and ask for his advice on something, and apparently I wasn't the only one. It's a big loss.
Does anybody know the cause? I assume it couldn't have been natural causes at an age of 71. Perhaps the disease that has taken away so much of my family already, cancer?
Not that I like to indulge in speculations like this, but as he mentioned that disease himself - and permanent damages from the treatment: https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,107666.msg941125.html#msg941125
Thanks. I seem to remember now seeing him mention it once. It even seemed like it was the same type of cancer that took my father away :-(.
This is an old thread, but I need to post.
Mr. Krueger yelled at me once, but it was for my own good. You see, my (former) audiophile ego got in the way of our discussion one time and he needed to set me straight. He did and I changed. He was the person primarily responsible for me choosing scientific reality over subjective audiophile la-la land.
I miss him. I wish he was still here so I could ask him a few things.
I know this thread is old, but it's been a while since I logged in.
I always found Mr. Krueger's posts to be very insightful. And his staunch insistence on the use of ABX tests was VERY refreshing.
I only knew the man through his posts here. But the idea that I will never read another post by him greatly saddens me.
RIP my online friend. The placebophiles in the afterlife won't get a moment's peace now.
