Hello,

I have a question (or feature request) regarding CUETools ability to analyze EAC logfiles.

Since CUETools is able to match CRC values from logfiles as calculated by EAC against the actual existing audio data (either as complete image or single tracks), is it possible to validate both Image CRC and Track CRCs at the same time?
This would require CUETools to analyze at least two logfiles for one disc/image (maybe based on this file naming scheme?):

Quote
"Awesome Album Title.flac"
"Awesome Album Title (Image).log"
"Awesome Album Title (Tracks).log"

The goal would be to have CUETools generate an .accurip logfile with a complete overview:

Code: [Select]
Track Peak [ CRC32  ] [W/O NULL] [  LOG   ]
--  100.0 [D78D3B12] [E33CA45B]        OK
01  100.0 [5C6B629A] [2CEB2478]        OK
02  100.0 [2143D219] [C1819E6C]        OK
03   99.1 [131CA7DD] [8C89D7FA]        OK
04  100.0 [11C6AFAB] [CDC171C9]        OK
05  100.0 [63CFFACD] [9D25555F]        OK
06  100.0 [E4806D30] [864D8C0F]        OK
07  100.0 [CA68015C] [D2912A94]        OK
08  100.0 [1205D4C4] [FD47E5D7]        OK

Is this already possible somehow? If not, please consider this as a feature request. :-)

Also I'm considering to get myself a Mac. Are XLD logfiles supported already?

Thanks!!!

CUETools only verifies one rip at a time. Your request would require using logs from two different rips (one from an 'image' rip and one from a 'tracks' rip) and combine them into a single verification. I don't see Gregory adding this feature but you never know.
The XLD log request has been made before but not supported yet.

Hi!  Not sure if this is a feature request or bug report ... I posted elsewhere but was directed here.

I'm taking a .wav rip and cue sheet (from EAC) and using CUETools 2.1.4 to split and encode it to separate FLAC tracks, my goal being to handle HTOA well.

The CUETools "Gaps Appended + HTOA" is fantastic, exactly the functionality I was looking for, except that the FLAC produced from the HTOA, while correct, is missing any of the artist/album/track/etc FLAC tags. The other, "normal", tracks from the same rip have all tags set properly.

I realize there's the question of what track # you tag the first track with, but I don't think that's a big deal.  It'd work well enough to just call it "00", or to leave it blank, or to give the user the option to pick one of those two.

Thanks!

If I understand correctly, this is the usual standard CUE file for VA compilation disk.
Is it possible to add a column "Artist" in the CUE file editor for the tag "PERFORMER" at the tracks?
I have two variants in my mind:
1. Always display the column "Artist". If it is empty, then do not write it in the CUE file.
2. Show column "Artist", if the tag "PERFORMER" for tracks already exists in the file.

+ Add for VA discs file mask. (For myself, I would use this "%tracknumber%. %artist% - %title%".)

I think CUETools has problems with the INDEX 00, INDEX 01.
With 3 of 5 Christmas CDs CUETools had this problem.

Improper gap detection method was used in EAC. Note that all INDEX 00's are 04:19:55. Tracks 03-19 shouldn't reference the end of track 1 as a pregap starting point. Try editing the cue sheet file by deleting all the lines containing "INDEX 00 04:19:55".

Thanks - this worked.
Only very strange that this never happened and now 3 times within of a very short time.

I have still another problem. I have an older image which is causing a 'synchonization was lost' exception.
Is in such a case the image lost or is it somehow possible to repair it?

When I check the log files of the rip:

then the timing problem was reported - but crc of test & copy were identically and also AccurateRip reported that the rip was fine.  And it was verified by Accuraterip - there was no need for me to read the log more carefully.
It was ripped with eac 0.99

Looks like a decoding problem (error in the flac file, assuming this was also a flac image). CUETools can't repair this. It might be possible to use another program to "decode through errors" but the resulting file will likely be truncated.

I just got the same problem as yours. The index00 in the cue file looks like you posted, but it's a different CD. The funny thing is, I got this index out of range error when I use cuetools' encode function. Those flac tracks was verified with confidence 3. The cue file was generated by cuetools itself during encoding. It looks like cuetools generated some poison and finally killed itself.

Different error message = same problem? Please provide the cue sheet.
There was a bug introduced in the early version of 2.1.4 when 'Detailed log' was enabled and the disc had a data track. Error would read something like:
"Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection."
A new version of 2.1.4 was uploaded over the previous one 11 JUL 2012 to fix this bug without a version bump.
You could have the older one.

I have a weird problem with CUERipper on my new HP ProBook under Windows 8 (64 bit). When I try to rip a new CD to an image then CUERipper goes immediately into error correction mode after the first pass - and this is on a brand new CD fresh out of the box (i.e. jewel case). My drive is a HP DVD A DS8A8SH and the read offset (+6) is correctly detected and agrees with what is found on the accuraterip.com website.

So I was curious if I could rip the CD with foobar2000: see there, the CD ripped fine and was also confirmed accuraterip accurate (via CUETools). I also tested with Exact Audio Copy (EAC) and the CD ripped perfectly as well (again confirmed via CUETools).

So why is it that I can rip a CD fine with foobar2000 and EAC but not with CUERipper with the exact same hardware? What is CUERipper doing differently? Is this a problem with this specific drive? Anyone who had similar problems with HP drives?

Actually, there's no such thing like 'input' cue sheet. Even without any cue sheet, you put those tracks into cuetools and generate a image after verification, cuetools will finally throw that exception.

If the drive reports C2 errors in burst mode then up to 15 retries are done. C2 error reporting is one of the 'detected' drive features that can't be disabled.

What's the easiest way to do an "in place" fix up (e.g. offset correction) of an existing rip? Cuetools doesn't seem to allow the destination to be the same as the source.

Also, how do you disable writing a .cue file? (since the rips are in files this cue is completely useless)

Thanks.

The output file names would need to be different. CUETools cannot overwrite the source files.

You can't disable writing the CUE file except when creating an image with embedded cue. The goal of the program is to preserve this information, not discard it.

That would make sense if I were creating an image. But I'm not.

The information is already stored twice, in the tags and the filename. Why do I need THREE copies of the same information?

What's the easiest way to do an "in place" fix up (e.g. offset correction) of an existing rip? Cuetools doesn't seem to allow the destination to be the same as the source.

Also, how do you disable writing a .cue file? (since the rips are in files this cue is completely useless)

Thanks.

Although offset correction was one of the first features i implemented when i started to work on cuetools, i have long since decided that it's quite useless. Offset correction doesn't add anything to the quality of your files, and even subtracts a few samples. You don't need to apply offset to be able to verify your rip, and it doesn't affect how it sounds. Each time when i release a new CUETools version, i am strongly tempted to remove offset correction feature altogether.

In-place conversion is one of frequently requested features, it's on my list.

And unfortunately you can't disable writing a .cue file, but it's also on my list mainly because it's useless when converting to lossy formats.

Without ARv2 cross-pressing verification, you still need it in the 'Extra' section on occasion to verify when no entries in CTDB.

Thanks for the clarification. My [a href='index.php?act=findpost&pid=819445']comment[/a] was regarding preserving disc structure for lossless rips.
