Title: Confusions while reading the LAME wiki page
Post by: dl7749 on 2017-04-03 04:31:18
Hi.

In the wiki page for LAME (http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=LAME), somewhere in the middle, it says

Quote
Important: CBR setting is tuned from 320 kbit/s down to 80 kbit/s.

I found this sentence confusing. Does it mean at 320 kbs CBR, encoding will be tuned down to 80 kbs or something? Or is it some showstopper for 320 kbs CBR encoding?

Thanks for your help.

It doesn't mean either of those things.  It means that the CBR setting is primarily tuned for bitrates from about 80 kbps to 320 kbps, although I'm not sure if that is still accurate.  So if you use a value outside of that range, it may not work as well.

Thanks for the reply. I thought it said it would do something special if I picked 320 kbps CBR mode :P
