Should i be concerned? i heard that CMC produced crappy CDr media?

I bought TDKs figuring that they would be made at the HQ TDK plant. i guess not.

I just the same tests on my Memorex Cdrs"

And here is the results from Nero Scandisk

The last batch of TDKs I've bought were Riteks, I wouldn't be surprised if they use CMC now. Probably whatever they can get cheaper at any given time is what they'll use. Though I bought a spindle of Imations which are CMC and so far haven't had any problems.

thanks for the reply.

It just pisses me off that there no way of knowing where the CDrs are produced before buying them.

Well i hope these work out for me. i just bought 2 50spindles. errrrrr
they were 18$ plus a 7$ rebate and free shipping from buy.com if anyone cares.

Depends on your burner if they will work well or not. But surely, CMC media is not exactly top-quality. Also read this topic from another board, quite interesting... CMC failure rate is pretty high.

Is there any HQ brands that do not use low end CDr factories to produce some of there media?

All i want is to find some HQ CDr media?
Any suggestions?

thanks

Trust the manufacturer themselves, exept TDK and Verbatim, who sometimes use third part CDR :
Mitsui, Tayo Yuden (Japan only ?), Ricoh, HiSpace.
Kodak doesn't manufacture anymore, and I don't know if Ritek is available as Ritek.

Fujifilm discs here in Canada are Taiyo Yuden discs.  Easily recognizable in-store without opening them by the distinctive spindle casing, which has a seperate screw-top holding down the dome.  Best discs out there right now if you ask me.  *Only* rated for 24x, but that's enough for my 24x burner
