ffdshow for simple encoding of xvid.

Hi,

From time to time I need to encode video so it will play on my DVD player which plays divx/xvid and other formats in addition to DVDs of course. Mostly it's hdtv content I need to resize. I have been reading up on encoding in this and other forums, but I want to make it simple since this is not something I do all the time. Since I use ffdshow for all my playback needs I was wondering if ffdshow's encoding capabilities using virtualdub for the job is good enough for my simple use? If so, are there settings in ffdshow I should be aware of that can make the results better?

Again, I do not want to turn this into something complicated, so it would be great to hear that ffdshow will do the job.

TIA for help.
