0.9.3 CPU Usage

Sometimes when a song changes (ex would be after playback queue played entirely or playlist on shuffle), my computer starts lagging for 15-30 seconds... the next song is on hold during that time and I wonder what might be the problem. Didn't do this under 0.9.2.
I think most of my components are up to date, I should check that out.

Anybody has the same problem?

If you need more info, ask me.

I got that too.. using the same plugin (latest), same setting as 0.9.2

loading folder(s) not in Media Library is also slower in 0.9.3

now, I'm back on 0.9.2

I had a weird component (which didn't work anyway for no apparent reason) it was the gap killer version 0.1 : foo_dsp_skip_silence.dll

And it seems to be ok now (might not be it though). I'll continue my "tests".

U think Skip_Silence might cause this weird problem? Will test that, too, as it realy didn't work as i expect it to.

No after using foobar for another couple hours I still have the same problem.  Skip silence is not the problem.

Umm.. i realy dont know what the problem might be.. i used skip silence with 0.93b1 and b2, worked good. then i had another computer for some time (that sucked even more then mine does) and b3 came out, everything ok. The i added dsp_continuator, still worked fine. Final came out, guess what, worked fine ^^..
Ok, then i got my computer back, added continutor and upgraded to the final of 0.93. And now i got this high CPU usages. BUT as it starts when the crossfading of continuator normaly begins i think it might be continuators fault. Actualy i wont remove this plugin, somehow i cant explain why this happens. Perhaps it's some wrong settings? Cant believe that this plugin makes trouble. Perhaps someone of you could check this? Guess you guys use continuator too, otherwise we should post our version info and check out what plugins we all use...

For some reason foobar 9.3 uses about 12 - 17 percent cpu usage on my comp when changing tracks, while foobar 9.2 with the same settings and plugins used 0 percent cpu and i noticed that the lastest version of foobar use more memory.

Well since it's annoying I got back to 0.9.2  I liked the changes though.

Seen that in the betas before, suffered from that just now, found this topic.

Yes, foobar does kill my windows, I even have problems killing fb2k. It is if it doesn't find a track in the playlist at startup, then it eats the full cpu... I wasn't even able to copy the console contents, here is a screenshot:

I also, have this "CPU usage problem", never had it before, not even in 0.9.3 beta 4, It was working pefectly I don't know what it causing this problem.

Everything was working fine, and now foobar2000, eats more cpu than my game does, I play stacraft, and It loads full cpu, the game I mean, no matter what computer you have, but when I use foobar, now it lags a bit, I don't know why.

The CPU usage is causing this, my game needs almost 90% CPU usage, and Foobar is eating more than 40%, if anyone finds a solution please reort. I need to solve this, I <3 foobar

Big joke? but, perhaps i/we should try and find out if a plugin causes this problem and if yes, what plugin does.

He's must be wrong. It's in the core. I only left the ui_standard, then ui_columns (deleted all other plugins), the problem appeared with both. Maybe there's something wrong with the foobar2000.cfg file (I don't know, as unfortunately its not plain text): After deleting it foobar starts up without a problem.

EDIT: I see I'm describing a different problem: constantly 100% cpu at startup, when fb2k doesn't find a track and when having "resume playback after restart" turned on.

Yap, you describe something different  But I guess this is pretty annoying,  too. So it should be fixed

Any more information about the "Track-Change-CPU-Usage" problem?

I've also had this same problem which causes a disruption in my gaming.

I've also tried a clean install (Profile removed, no third party plugins) to no avail

Switched back to 0.9.2 and the problem is gone.. I miss the new Media Library check already >.<
Does anyone have some beta versions of 0.9.3? AFAIK it worked fine, 2nd beta was the last i used on this computer.

You can upload your foobar2000 installation directory + configuration files for us to look into (note that configuration files may include sensitive data such as foosic passwords and playback statistics; we'll remove your uploads after we've downloaded them). It would also help to know what kind of files you are playing when the problem occurs.

To start with, you fail at having read the offender list. Other than that, I could not reproduce your problem on my machine when running your configuration, but I suspect what you are experiencing is related to foosic fingerprint calculation (but again that could not be tested as your foosic configuration was left out).

[edit]
Also, your setup is crashable when seeking near the end of track, apparently continuator is to blame.

Perhaps you should check whether your problem is even reproduceable without any DLLs that don't come with the installer?

i will never remove a component i like because you dont like it, i so got used to this plugin. As i dont publish or host it for some people i see no problem. Sorry for that, but perhaps it causes the problem, so i didnt remove it.

Foosic is not the problem. I switched back to 0.9.2, added foosic there and had 0.9.3 running, too, but without foosic ofcourse. Still the same problem.

Also continuator didnt cause this crash, i already thought it might cause it. I used the beta versions without continuator, everything worked fine. As this problem appeared after upgrading to the final version and adding continuator i removed continuator again. Now the cpu load appears directly when tracks change, not when crossfading starts.

I install a fresh foobar now and check if it works. Shall i upload this fresh install if this bug occurs again?

The offender list is there for you to check against known problem sources before asking questions or writing bug reports. By having ignored it, you are only showing disrespect to people who spent their free time on writing the software you are using.

Arguing on what caused the crash that I triggered - which may or may not be related to the CPU usage problem - makes you look even weirder (how come I could trigger it every time until I removed continuator?).

Note that I've already got a more useful report of the CPU usage problem from another user (without third party components) and I'm looking into details, so further reports - even with clean install - will have limited use to me.
