I could be wrong, but I think it's just a merge with libvorbis 1.3.4.

  # The latest aoTuV beta6.03 was unified with Xiph.Org's libvorbis1.3.4. The part related to sound quality is not changed from previous version.

is there any posibility to see any new update of Aoyumi's version of codec again? or is an abandoned project.
Is there any new update from anyone anyway?
I still use ogg vorbis and i was interested if there is still an action from anyone.

The latest aotuv is based on 1.3.5 ver of libvorbis, so it's up to date I guess.

but isnt an old version too? Is been some time to hear an update

Just look at the official vorbis site. libvorbis 1.3.5 is the newest release.

Most of the optimizing efforts probably goes towards opus now anyway.

I think that Nicos asks about psychoacoustic model development.

aoTuV Beta6 was developed 5 years ago, and there were no changes since then.

The obvious question is here if nowadays' Vorbis has yet whatever to offer over AAC and Opus (xcept wider support  on HW players ofcourse tho even this is disputable)

On modes other than LC, AAC can be heavy on decoding side. On some portables and older phones can show various issues. I think vorbis, mpc, mp3 (not sure of optus) offer similar performance no matter what bitrate. This could be an advantage for vorbis - streaming audio at 64 k vs AAC HE resource wise while still offering OK quality.  Otherwise like mpc, theres a reference free encoder for all bitrates .  Opus I never tested. I have an older android phone and AAC 32..64k stream somtimes reduce battery drasticaly or get it running hot.

From these results on the rockbox wiki, ACC-HE and AAC-HEv2 seem to require more cpu clocks to decode. On older processors it will drain the battery faster.
