ReFacets

Great!!
I love the new integrated Facets. There is just one thing that makes it unusable for me.
Wehen I SELECT an item (with a single click) it sends everything selected to the playlist. So when I select "Rock" in the first colums it sends all my 4000+ Rock albums to the playlist.
Is that the intended behavior ? I haven't found a setting in that regard.
But other that that, it's really great.

Sounds like you have "Library viewer selection playlist" enabled. Preferences -> Media Library, see the bottom of the page and untick the option.

That's it. Thank you very much!

I have to say that the text of the buttons is off grid. I changed the font and it remained so. It should be in the middle but instead it's lower and to left.

Also I can't lock that toolbar.

ReFacets - Album Art Display

Does ReFacets only have a columns display? I painfully miss the album art display from old facets component.

Hope you're planning to replicate the "Display/Album art (no labels)" feature of Facets - it was really great for a plain, fast grid.

A new feature I'd appreciate would be custom drop-down lists to be filled from values in tags, such as genre or composer. Much like a Facets column but in a combo box - This would allow for a greater grid of album images.

I'm happy to see Facets re-emerge.

Once of the things I use (mostly) with the old Facets is walking trough the file-system folders. Having my files organised in a structure not deeper than, say nine, folders, nine panes will allow you to navigate through all.

Like this example with five levels: 'Artists' -> 'A' -> 'ABBA' -> 'Albums' -> 'Voulez Vous'.

Makes this sense? Would this be possible with ReFacets at some point in time?

Cheers,
Adriaan.

Thank you for reimplementing Facets. If was the biggest worry for an x64 bit version.
I agree with missing the "Display/Album art (no labels)" functionality.
But the most immeditate thing is the text for for the query.
It limits text to the size of the text box. I cant scroll when the text is bigger than the textbox itself.
In fact i had fb2k crash because of an invalid query expression pasted into the textbox.

Thank you for integrating Facets. What I miss is combining multiple tags and displaying them in a column...e.g.: [%<artist>%]|[%<album artist>%]|[%<soloist>%]|[%<orchestra>%] |[%<conductor>%] and label this with Artist. Is there a way or must u
se a different syntax than the tags with '|' to separate?

$cut(%artist%,1)
...
It kinda looks the same, but is not the same as 'just' following subdirectories.

Is your directory structure fixed in the number of levels? Your example might be just an example (I would surely use something different, but heck ...) Suppose all are in the structure E:\<something, maybe with slashes>\ABBA\Albums\Voulez Vous\08_Chiquitita , you can use $left($directory_path(%path%,3),1) to go up three levels: https://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Title_Formatting_Reference#.24directory.28path.2Cn.29

Edit: $left and $cut are synonyms. There is also a $right.

Are there plans to add the "Default sort order" option from Facets to Refacets so that the playlist view can be automatically sorted? I can't seem to find a way to achieve this eith er with the default view or Columns UI.

Black is nice but no album art in facets is much much worse than gray bars
The library is showing subfolders in Facets instead of the actual selected folders

FB2K 2.0 no doubt will look awesome, thank you very much for the good work 👽

UI glitch: In dark mode the Library and Filters dropdown uses black (=invisible) arrows.

OT: Also it would be nice if the volume slider used the highlight color, or at least the system wide color for sliders and not the hardcoded blue.

Looking good. 3 questions...

1. Is there a way to hide the Library/Filters/Search panels if we're not using them?

2. Under old Facets, [%ALBUM ARTIST%] would mean tracks without ALBUM ARTIST would not be shown. In ReFacets, it's still being shown, but as 'Missing tag'. Is there any way of disabling this?

3. There doesn't seem to be a way of changing the default sort order when generating playlists from the Facets panel, and it doesn't seem to be using the default specified elsewhere in settings. Is this planned for the future?

Thanks for replying. The depth depends. For example, the folder Soundtracks has less depth than the folder Artists. I use 9 panes. Not all of them are used all the time. The just are left empty when there is no more depth. With the old Facets, for me this is a very convenient way to navigate. It allows to have an arbitrary structure, that can even vary per artist.

Re: ReFacets

Depth depends, and "the letter you want" is both
* not the same number of levels from the root
and
* not the same number of levels from the top
?

Then it is worse. Going up "n" levels is easy, and going m levels from the root is not hard either (it is the m'th occurrence of "\"). But ...

My structure is "simpler". Driveletter, one folder, and there it is one folder for physical disc, named e.g.
Satriani, Joe {2001} Live in San Francisco ¶1
Satriani, Joe {2001} Live in San Francisco ¶2
... since I want it sorted by chronology.

VA/Soundtracks can be put at the end of the alphabet by putting some suitable character there. µ is available on my keyboard and collates late ... but I digress.

Seconded. Currently I can only sort my music via filename, which in my case returns a jumbled mess.
Also second the return of album art.

In fact, ideally ReFacets would have the exact same features as Facets (if possible).

Re: ReFacets

Using Facets in current version of fb, I can use * HAS to search directories up to root level (C:, D:,). For example, * HAS D:\ will show all music in my D drive.
To get the same result in ReFacets I need to use %path% HAS D:, This also happens using Facets plugin on fb 2.0 beta

I'd like to be able to use the * wilcard to search directories as well. (as per the Query syntax page entry for *HAS)

Thank you.

Thank you for rebuilding Facets, much appreciated! I'd like to share a few pieces of feedback.

Two potential bugs:

1. The ReFacets checkbox option "Start playback when sending selection to playlist" doesn't work in combination with ReFacets' Double-click action "Add to current playlist".

If I use those two together, the selection does get added to the playlist, but it doesn't start playing; I expect it to (it's actually how I prefer to use Foobar). The checkbox option does does work in combination with "Send to current playlist (default)" though.

2. In Preferences>Display, set Selection Viewers to "Prefer current selection". Then, in ReFacets, with the selection also present in the current playlist (let's say one album), click on a song with the left mouse button to select it. Nothing happens in the playlist.

Expected behavior: like in Facets, if I do those same actions, the active selection in the playlist follows what I select in Facets.

Aesthetics:

3. I can't unlock the toolbar (same as mentioned above).

4. ReFacets' search bar, compared to Facets, has an additional and unnecessary black/white 1px (?) border around it. See attached screenshot. It turns blue (same color as the volume switch) when searching something.

5. Refacts' buttons in the UI ("Library", "Filters") appear to be uncentered vertically, or otherwise need some more spacing below the strings. See attached screenshot.

6. The X-button to clear a search is very small, making it a bit harder to click compared to in Facets. See attached screenshot.

7. When mouse-hovering the X-button to clear a search, the mouse-hover animation is a white square.

No playlist related mods installed, portable fresh Foobar 2000 v2 b8 install.

Looking forward to using ReFacets for years to come! :) Hope this helps.

Please can we have the option to show album art in ReFacets like we can in Facets in v.1. It's really important to me!

I'm not alone. Just from this thread ...

Personally I use "Display/Album art (bottom labels)".

Thanks for all your hard work. v.2 looks great.

Agreed. Also really need sorting by release date with the date at the bottom, like that was in facets.
