Just wondering what Dsp features you guys have tested out and had the best effects..?

i do use the following chain since quite a while.

Continuator -> Convert St. to 4ch -> foo_wider -> Advanced Limiter

foo_wider is used to make a subtle but working pseudo-surround-effect on my 4ch Speaker System. I narrow the stereofield on the front-speakers a bit, and widen it on the rear speakers - the result is a subtle pseudo-surround effect.

I've tested quite a lot. Closest to what I want comes with ...

crappy pc speakers connected to rear output:
Equalizer -> Move stereo to rear channels

headphones on front output:
foo_dsp_hrtf.dll

i use only resampler, volume control and advanced limiter. i might use more if there was an easy way of getting to the dsp setup and not forgetting what i used

Well, I don't need resampler because my soundcard doesn't resample 44,1 Khz. I don't need Volume Control, since my amp is on my desk, right beside me. I don't want equalizer either. And if I did, my amp has bass and treble controls too. So...

what is soft clipping limiter and i have a few mp3 files that clip off at the end instead of the smooth ending, does that setting have anything to do with my problem?

Soft clipping limiter prevents clipping. It just limits everything above 6db AFAIK. Very usefull if you haven't replaygained your files. Better solution is to use advanced limiter. It "looks ahead" the song and works only if it is needed.

No.

The clipping this prevents is a sort of overdriven effect having to do with bad mastering on the original CD copy (which occurs in a lot of pop music etc because the sound engineers are pushing the CD format too far in terms of decibel range).

Actually, no filter can fix this problem (can't recover losted information). The clipping refers to some files (like mp3s) where global gain would allow some samples when coverted to pcm (to play from sound card) to go over the maximum value it can have.

Using:

w/ headphones:
Resampler (48KHz) => Volume Control => Crossfeed => 4Front Headphones (18%) => Advanced Limiter

w/ speakers:
Resampler (48KHz) => Volume Control => Advanced Limiter

Skip Silence

Advenced Limiter

24 bit sampling --> Kernel Streaming

Convolution module ( for room correction)
volumen control
upsampler ( 96 KHz)
kernel streamning out: 24 bit

Digital out to a Beheringer DCX 2496

Room correction look at DRC at freashmeat

what do you have gap killer set at because some of the tracks are fading on to the next track?

also i won't have to have gap killer if fix mp3 header is installed??

but i read the guide but i still don't get how fix mp3 header works, i know you activate by right clicking but what do you set for padding?

Yeah, but with kX drivers. Using resampler under Creative drivers is useless.

I don't think that is correct either.  From my searching I've found these settings to be the best for Audigy2:

Output:
Kernel Streaming

Playback:
24bit fixed-point padded to 32bit
No dithering

DSP Manager:
Resampler (SSRC)
Volume Control
Advanced Limiter

From what I've read the internal resampling done by the Audigy2 cannot be disabled.  The kx drivers may disable this but I am uncertain.
