-Q n is simpler to type than -V n --vbr-tonal
I second this.  Please leave it as it is.  Very simple and easy to use. As this is a "forked" version of LAME, it makes sense to me that the parameters are distinct from those of official LAME.

Thanks again Halb27 for your version.  Best regards, LedHed8.

I use foobar for encoding and listening, and I like it.

Hi
Are you using Q only parameter  in your converter setting ?  This will cause a kind of V4 defaut setting like a 128K vbr !
And what will be the best V parameter for the  Q0.5
Cheers
Pat

lame3995n isn't a converter. It is a Lame3.99.5 encoder variant.
You choose either the usual -V quality option or the new -Q quality option.
If you like improvement on the kind of tonal issues I mention in the documentation I suggest to use the -Q option. If you don't: just use -V the usual way.
Using -Q 0.5 is already a bit exaggerated in terms of security demands. It's for those who don't have to care much about storage space like me. IMO you're very safe already with a setting like -Q 1.7 (taking 200 kbps on average for pop music).
lame3995o -Q1.7 --lowpass 17

Thank's for your response !
I have some practice of Lame
But you say it's possible to "choose V or Q" this is what makes me troubled...
I tried  q0.5  with no V parameter in foobar encoder line command:
"   --silent -q 0.5  --noreplaygain - %d   "
And it give a 127K bitrate and a V4 code profile in the properties of the file( right click)
May be I forgot something ?
Cheers

-Q, not -q (this is a different parameter)
| QAAC ~ 192 kbps |
