Other Lossy Codecs / Re: lossyWAV 1.4.2 Development (was 1.5.0)

Please find attached a new beta release of lossyWAV.

lossyWAV beta 1.4.3c, 02/05/2024 (expires 31/12/2024)
  • Major bug identified after @guruboolez discovered that lossyWAV would not successfully convert large WAV files in foobar2000, i.e. those which exceed 4GiB in length, using the --ignore-chunk-sizes option. Many thanks to @Case for answering my questions on foobar2000, which made identifying the bug much easier. The calculation of padding bytes to write after each chunk incorrectly assumed that the number of bytes of processed WAV file would not exceed 4GiB, which caused the program to fail when attempting to write exabytes of padding...

Hello!
It's my first post in here. First of all I wanted to thank the author for developing such cool plugin, I love it!

Does anybody here struggle with framerate under Linux/Wine? I seem to be stuck at 20-40 fps depending on exact settings. I suspect something is wrong with my wine configuration, but it's hard to diagnose without any point of reference.

We use something called PerfectMeta, which looks up using:

GD3
MusicBrainz
Discogs
Freedb

and then combines them looking for errors, you would be surprised even in MB there are many spelling errors. Discogs does not have direct CD TOC >> lookup, so we have to send it off where it matches a toc to artist / album to be looked up.

GD3 is good.

Having an extra choice to replace freedb for modern releases would be good, we have the most accurate metadata and would like to keep it that way.

Well that's because I did not do the kind of trial and error needed to work out a definitive minimum setup. I simply installed them while looking for a functional setup because I searched other posts for recommended verbs. If you want to know what they are good for you'll have to ask those people, all I can say is that they (probably) don't break anything.

Anyway, in my testing, foo_httpcontrol server didn't start until I installed msxml6.

Since lvqcl still hasn't released a 64-bit version I wanted to see if I can improve the quick conversion I did earlier.
Here's a new build that supports both 32-bit and 64-bit foobar2000 versions, dark mode is supported and now fast mode works also on 64-bit variant.

I also added options to resample only chosen samplerates or to resample everything else but the chosen samplerates, so it should allow doing everything mod and mod2 versions did in one file. I didn't see sources for lvqcl's mod variants so this is my custom implementation.

IMHO we do not need yet another such DB. I exclusively use Musicbrainz. Ieven contributed 100-s of releases to that. I do not know what is the issue with Musicbrainz (I might missed something), but it is still being updated and the best community driven thing around. It will be hard to replicate them even if you have some issues with them. That along with Discogs are unbeatable IMHO.
