Batch Conversion to mp3 Hangs After One File

I have foobar 1.1.10 coupled with lame 3.99.2.  When I try to do a batch conversion from either .flac or .wav files, the conversion hangs after the first file is converted.  That is, the first file in the queue gets converted, but the conversion fails to begin with the second file.  I have tried placing only one file at a time into the window, but even so, I am unable to convert a second file.

What could the issue be?
