3.3.5

https://jscript-panel.github.io/docs/changes/

Various fixes plus an option to blur album art has been added to the Text Display sample.

Text Display
If it is possible to make it so that I have to make this change every time:

//         _drawImage(gr, albumart.img, 0, 0, panel.w, panel.h, image.crop);
         _drawImage(gr, albumart.img, 0, 0, panel.w, panel.h, image.centre);

I would add, that by deselecting Album Art in background, nothing should appear in the background, instead the blur/crop image appears

Scientific Discussion / Re: What is the pre-amp input window range for dynamic microphone voltages

I assume when I raise or lower the analog gain on my ADC I cannot amplify EVERY voltage (change) input from the microphone equally.
An amplifier is simply a linear voltage multiplier.     Digital amplification/attenuation is also done as multiplication.  Each sample (44100 samples per second, etc.) is amplified by the same factor (greater than 1 for amplification and less than one for attenuation).
Thanks for the long detailed reply!  Sure, with a strong enough voltage an amplifier can effectively become a linear voltage multiplier.  The loss in resolution isn't noticed.  But I don't believe any pre-amp can perform accurate linear voltage multiplication with a microphone voltage/current because the current is too weak.  Or can be too weak if a person is speaking too far away.  Or, if they're speaking too loudly, forcing the amplifier to focus on the strong end while the weak end falls off the sensitivity of the pre-amp.

So, mustn't a microphone pre-amp pick a range of voltage to amplify?  Which it can do through automatic gain control electronics or you can do manually with a gain knob.

If that wasn't true we wouldn't need a gain knob in the same way there isn't a gain knob in a high end stereo system amplifier because the amplifier assumes it's receiving a voltage optimized for amplification.

Listening Tests / Re: Personal blind comparison of the Bluetooth codec, AAC and SBC and LC3.
Last post by maikmerten -
Are there significant audio quality differences between SBC encoders? For other audio formats, ffmpeg's native encoder implementations (AAC, Vorbis, Opus, WMA, ...) usually are not considered to equal the best respective non-ffmpeg encoders, especially if the format is dependent on robust psycho-acoustic modeling. For SBC, I'm not sure if there's much psycho-acoustic optimization in play.

For instance, another SBC encoder implementation appears to be this one from Broadcom, which is part of Android's Bluetooth stack: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/external/bluetooth/bluedroid/+/refs/heads/main/embdrv/sbc/encoder/srce/

edit: And Linux appears to use https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/bluetooth/sbc.git/tree/src - this encoder seems to be packaged as "sbc-tools" in Debian.

If you pass multiple colours to $set_style(), it won't set the background colour to the inverse of the non-selected colour.

For example:

Code: [Select]
$set_style(back,$rgb(255,0,0),$rgb(0,255,0),$rgb(0,0,255))

sets the non-selected background colour to red, the selected background colour to green, and the selected background colour when not focused to blue. If you're still stuck, post the style script here.

There's no way to vary the focused item frame colour depending on selection status etc.

3rd Party Plugins - (fb2k) / Re: [fb2k v2] Playlist Attributes (foo_playlist_attributes)
Last post by fbuser -
may somebody expain and tell me what are the templates?
In general, see "Help -> Playlist attributes".

and pattern ,how do they work?
The attributes of a template are applied to a newly created or renamed playlist, if the name of this playlist matches the given pattern.

I have added Pink F* -> for all playlist with Pink Floyd albums
or *Remastered* for all my albums remasterd
As the pattern refers to the playlist name and not to the playlist content, this won't work in this way.

General Audio / Re: do you use Volume² ?
Last post by francesco -
windows 10 or 7 or even w 11 have an ugly volume osd ,
reported to be 100% portable
What?

may I you if do you use Volume²  ?
and what do you think about it
thanks
I leave Windows set to 100% and control volume in FB2K.
Hi
for portable stealth , it does mean that volume2 doesn't write in the registry or leave some files , in short like foobar2000 portable
it does include advanced features and it has several custom osd
in short seems a very nice open source or free program
