"Instead of always opening in the General Properties tab, I would like to be able to choose opening in the Metadata tab"

Doesn't it?

* It's not a bug but playcount unofficial dosen't work.
I have got a warning message: "metadb_handle leaks: 1 objects" when i close foobar, thout that is related to unofficial playcount.

* Also, there another message:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program:..foobar200.exe
R6025
- pure virtual function call

In Foobar2000 0.9.2 was File Properties more comfort to me, because File Path isn't on top ... Maybe is the way to HotKey function "Copy File Path" ? For example I want send song to friend on skype, I select song, press some buttens (for example ctrl+c) and File Path is in Clipboard ...

Sorry for bad English

You can use foo_run to send file path to some app.

Properties/General properties/

is not optimal, as the dialog does not display the file name only. It shows full path+filename, but on long paths in general the filename is clipped...

Please add a "file name" field.

According to Peter, the only change there is that rescanning the media library does no longer block access to the user interface.
He must have changed something. Before, I scanned the whole library (5700 tracks) and it took always about 5 Minutes on my notebook at any scan, fb2k seemed to touch any media file. Now, with no changes to the media files, it just takes, maybe, 15 seconds or even less.
Are you sure the scan ran to completion and you didn't accidentally abort it by closing the preferences window?

PonasX: preferences>display>title formatting>copy command>and paste %path%>save all

or use foo_run as i already said.

Which is exactly the same error message I have when I have the report error and debug information box checked (within the Play Count menu options page inder Preferences).

Use the "copy name" command. string is configurable in title formatting preferences, "copy command"...

Foosion, I'm very sure I didn't abort the rescan. I didn't have the preferences open btw. But I don't understand it yet. I did a rescan on a test library here at another machine. Did take > 3 Minutes (3000 files on a network drive). I saw every track ran through the progress window. I did a rescan again, and it took less than 30 seconds. Some hours later, it's again doing the slow and complete scan once. I'm prettey sure nothing changed on the network drive. Next scans are now quick again, also after a restart of fb2k.

I'd be happy if Peter could provide some technical details.

what if "copy command" is now used ?

and I don't know how to insert COPY %path% command to foo_run

foobar2000 v0.9.3 beta

Well, foo_run wont copy path to clipboard but wil pass it as selected argument to chosen app (skype etc.). You can also find some app that takes argument and puts it into clipboard.

Easier solution is copy command. Whats the problem with it?

"Is now used" by you? Then you are happy? I don't understand your question. The copy command is the best and versatile solution, as it's configurable with tagz.

Squeller: Let me recap: an immediate rescan (of files on a network drive) is fast, but a later rescan might be slow. I think the file caching mechanisms in Windows might be a logical explanation.

I also confirm that rescan is MUCH faster. Seconds compared to minutes in earlier versions. And i'm sure as i launched 0.92 just to test this.

Me too, Rescan Media Library took about 12 seconds. I have about 4500 files.
we was young an' full of beans

cannot confirm. rescanning takes about 5-10 minutes @ ~30000 locally stored files/cued tracks.........as long as fb0.92

Can confirm the fast library rescan. The first scan after instalation was as slow as with 0.92, but now it takes only 10 s (~5700 files on local drive).

Rescanning is definitely faster for me. It can be a matter of seconds for a library of around 6000 files if I run a few rescans in a row.
I also removed my database and restarted my pc and then did a fresh scan of my library and that also seems to be faster than in 0.9.2 I can do some testing with more accurate timing if anybody wishes.

Definitely, in fact surprisingly faster.
For ~12000 files (mp3, ogg) located on a remote server (100 Mb/s LAN):
0.9.2    - 15 min
0.9.3b1 -  3 min

It's definitely not about file caching. On my pc at home now (which I just booted), it took 25 seconds for almost 6000 tracks. Hmm. But somehow the mechanism seemed to skip some major directories... We need Peter

EDIT: Bad news, it does not seem to work, please confirm and maybe report it to the support group

What I did: copied an mp3 file to a media libraries folder. Tagged %title% with "teststring" with winamp (id3v1). Started foobar, did the complete media lib. scan. Did a database search for "teststring" with foo_uie_quicksearch. No match!

I'm a complete fool, I did not properly tag it, my bad, sorry  ... Anything works nice and quick

I my case it works, added, rescanned, played ne songs,  deleted and rescanned again and everything worked fine.

The rescanning the media library issue must be with mp3/ogg only.  When I rescan roughly 45000 flac and wavpack files it takes just as long as it did in 0.9.2.  Quite happy I can now use the player when rescanning.
