Character numbers are easy, just open your character map (charmap.exe) and find the one you want. Click on it and make a note of the number that shows up in the status bar (e.g. the star will show as U+2605). Fire up your calculator and set it to "scientific" mode (or "programmer" if using Win7). Click "Hex", type in the number, in this case "2605", and then click "Dec" to get the correct decimal number for the $char() function. For the star, this would be $char(9733)
One last thing. In Your last screenshot you still seem to be using segoUI in the playlist. I cant find a star char or even music note char... how did you do that? Can you change font dynamically in columnsUI?

an easier method is to change the font in the columns ui editor to the one you are using - then you can copy/paste characters direct from character map.

If you're using Vista or above, you'll find that as long as you're using Segoe UI (and a few others) then stars etc. will be available no matter if it's not actually available in the font itself. It's not fb2k, it's the OS itself that takes care of this. Now if you're using WinXP, it's not quite that easy...but what you could do is grab the "Segoe UI Symbol" font from the Win7 beta. It contains just about any symbol you can think of, and is mostly the same as the regular Segoe UI font.

thanx

but I guess there is also code for reflection

there is no code for reflection in CUI
but if you are talking about WSH, ELP or PSS
then you will do codes for reflections
and the codes for reflection in those panels are just the same image displayed upside down below the normal image and maybe some overlay

My config has evolved somewhat, but isn't done yet.
On second hand it never is I guess.

As you can see it's all about the visuals for me.

...

Looks really nice could you please share your config?

I don't suppose anyone has a relatively basic CUI/PSS based config that I could tear apart to learn how PSS and CUI work? I can make a Panel Stack Splitter, get an image showing that I've specified (using $imageabs(0,0,%_width%,%_height%,Bloo PSS Experiment\images\background.png,)), but other than that, I'm a bit lost.

Apologies if this isn't exactly the correct place to post this, I couldn't think of anywhere else, since a lot of posters in this thread use CUI and PSS.

I just LOVE foobar2000 and all those 3rd party components! It's such a pleasure to see one's own interface evolve
